| Yes people I am building a PC. Because I still am too young to have an income I am forced to rely on holiday money. This being said the materials for said computer are only going up to $930 that way i can still pay for half (I love my parents). Here are the parts Im using and I would like feed back on possible success of this build. Intel Core i7 Processor 2.80 GHz 8 MB LGA1156 CPU I7-860BOX Intel DP55WB Media Series P55 micro-ATX Core i7 Core i5 LGA1156 Desktop Motherboard Xion AXP 100 Gaming Series Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail (Black/Blue) BFG NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 OC MAXCORE 55 896MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 Graphics Card Western Digital 1.5 TB Caviar Green SATA Intellipower 64 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive WD15EARS Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 XMS3 4 GB PC3-12800 Core i5 Memory Kit Corsair CMPSU-650TX 650-Watt TX Series 80 Plus Certified Power Supply compatible with Intel Core i7 and Core i5 Samsung Internal Half Height DVD-W Supermulti SATA 22X Lightscribe (Black) just found out that the same stuff I looked up on newegg cost me nearly 200 more than allowable so I'm gonna stick with amazon. | Core 2 quad won't fit in that mobo. EDIT: or the RAM |

| Super Moderator | I see some potential issues... 1) Your mobo has a 1366 CPU socket type, whereas your CPU has a 775 socket type. 2) The mobo supports DDR3 RAM and you have some DDR2s picked (a little slow. I believe CPU socket types must match, and DDR2 RAM won't physically fit in a DDR3 slot.

| Your best bet is to get an i5 or i7 processor, motherboard, and DDR3 RAM. They are priced the same, if not even some being LOWER, than the older generation intel CPUs. Plus they are massively faster. |

| I agree with tim, you are better off just getting a faster i7 or i5 system. they will run you about the same. but I will comment on your build ![]() processor is fine, you do not want a nvidia chipset motherboard, did not know pny made desktop memory but try to get from corsair or g-skill and you should get faster memory depending on what the motherboard supports. the power supply looks like a cheaply made one, so stay away from it!!!! you can get a great power supply from corsair for around $100. make sure the case you are getting has the room for your stuff. the hard drive only has 8MB of onboard cache, this will mean slower seek times. and the LG drive, not sure what securedisk is, but it is IDE, surely you can get a SATA model which would be a little faster and you will not have to mess with those ribbon cables ![]() sorry for the long post, just thought I would help you out. also were are you buying this stuff from? if you give us the website we can give you suggestions on builds |

Im using Amazon to buy but if there is a site that ships faster tips would be greatly appreciated Also note that I traded out the power supply, CPU, and RAM for i5 and i7 packages. | |

| Use newegg.com. Its by far the best site for computer hardware, thats the site most people quote and buy from. Get a SATA dvd burner, do not get IDE. You don't need a 750watt power supply, that built would be fin with 550, save some money. That video card is subpar for the price of built you quoted. Get a GTX260 or the ATI equal in price range. Hardrive is pretty small now-a-days (i could fill half that up with just normal programs i use), the price range from 250gig to 500-1gig is not much, consider getting 2. One for backup, one for OS. |
