Default What is a fun new RPG?

So guys, what is a fun new RPG that is out, I'm thinking about picking one up and playing it 100% through the stream.

The RPG would have to be a typical sword/magic type of one, but it has to have an awesomesauce deep plot.

Any ideas?

Well.. I'd say D&D 4th edition is the penultimate swords & sorcery type rpg out there. Of course it is a pencil and paper game, with lead miniatures and reference books.

You don't need anything beyond the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide and Monster Manual. But they tend to sucker you into a lot more books, for expanded options, additional classes, more monsters, premade adventures etc.

The current edition is better balanced then anything previous, but is a bit less flexible then previous editions, at least as far as combat goes. Roleplaying is free form, the same as any previous edition. Combat is a heavy tactical game, with so many At-Will powers, stronger once per encounter powers, and a few once per day powers to manage.

I'm guessing you're talking more of the computer RPG, then the pencil & paper - in your head and the head of those around you.

Could you imagine me streaming to JTV a webcam playing a pen and paper RPG like Dungeons and Dragons real life with other people? Lets pretend for a moment that the players are Tim, Lindline, Muffinman, Eatcarbs, Ualaa, with a special guest dungeon master.

Tim: I want to be a hot female elf!
Carbs: I'm going to be a gnome fighter, I like being small.
Lindline: I like turtles
Ualaa: Pwnboxer could do this, I'm not sure, but I know IS Boxer can, just google up my guide.
Muffinman: Hold on, figuring out this PHP loop

Dungeon Master Jessica Alba: Okay everybody ready? Hold on, its hot in here, let me take off my sweater.

Tim: Does my scale mail have to cover my WHOLE body?
Carbs: I'm going to sneak up behind this troll and backstab it with this needle-sized dagger.
Lindline: I like turtles
Ualaa: Turtles are reptiles of the order Testudines (the crown group of the superorder Chelonia), characterised by a special bony or cartilaginous shell developed from their ribs that acts as a shield. "Turtle" may either refer to the Testudines as a whole, or to particular Testudines which make up a form taxon that is not monophyletic—see also sea turtle, terrapin, and tortoise.
Muffinman: Tim, you don't understand, I am saying that it makes sense to use 0 instead of -1, YOU DONT UNDERSTAND.

Dungeon Master Jessica Alba: Okay so lets start. The 5 adventurers meet at an elusive tavern one night. The moon is out and... err dang its hot in here, why am I wearing these wool pants? Let me take this off...

Tim: PANTS ON THE GROUND
Carbs: PANTS ON THE GROUND
Lindline: I like turtles
Ualaa: PANTS ON THE... Trousers (British English) or pants (American English) are clothing that one wears on the legs, like jeans or formal pants, which generally cover the whole leg (as opposed to shorts, which do not cover the whole leg).
Muffinman: Okay so I'm going to be a really skinny elf male monk because I like to use my bare hands

Dungeon Master Jessica Alba: You guys have any beer? I need a drink or two, you guys are dorks.

Tim: STREAM IS DONE GTFO!
Carbs: ....
Lindline: ....
Ualaa: ....
Muffinman: ....

Dungeon Master Jessica Alba: ....

Tim: You can stay Jessica.
