| Senior Member | I saw some video about this, and it was just a room full of wow'ers and these guys who were making the movie, and every time they answer a question all the wow'ers were hoopin n hollerin n hugging each other lol.. one guy said "will it be animated or free action" and they were like blah blah blah we want it free action, there was like a wave of tears of joy lol.

| For what it is, Legend of the Seeker isn't horrible. I would definitely prefer it to be darker (considering the evil warlord/dark magic user theme), but it did have a few good episodes. |

| I think Blizzard is rightfully concerned about picking the best director for their World of Warcraft movie because, for better or for worse, the movie could have a very real world impact on how the subscribers view the World of Warcraft game. For example, lets say the movie is done poorly. Maybe they use Arthas and the whole WOTLK scenario (which I am guessing they would not, for the purpose of movie sequels, wouldn't the WoW movie start out with maybe Thrall being a little soldier or such?). So if the movie was a WOTLK movie, and the story went so far as to make a joke out of the WoW plot, to the point of being laughable, then I could expect that WoW players would be so offended by such a retarded movie that they decide the game is no more fun. However, if the World of Warcraft movie is an extreme success, then essentially the movie is a marketing too for Blizzard. After all, which will make more money, a $300 million in sales movie, or 5 million more subscribers? The new subscribers of course. By far. Example: 5 million subscribers $30 WoW $30 BC $40 WOTLK Eg. 10 months of subscription paid = $249.95 * 5million = $1,249,750,000 not to mention the $300 in sales from the movie. Remember that movies these days are not just movies, they are marketing machines to sell merchandise. Which do you think the Spiderman people like more, the movie sales or the merchandise sales? Hint: It isn't movie sales. Further, movie sales in itself has a lot of overhead, such as actors, production company costs, both of which operate on a % revenue scale, versus a fixed rate. For WoW it is rumored to have only about 13%-15% overhead. So yea, Blizzard is banking the WoW franchise on the WoW movie, whether they know it or not, and I for one believe they know that, therefor the WoW movie will be more a marketing push for people to get into WoW, despite the huge profitability the movie allows.
