Wait wait... Blizzard says a rated Battleground is coming?!?!

We aren't reluctant to do a measured battleground system - we are, in fact, at work on one. However, measuring individual contributions to a battleground is a much more difficult prospect than our previous measurement systems. Having to rate each player in a 10 to 40-man fashion requires a varied and versatile tool that is capable of capturing defining moments in battleground matches and player contributions throughout the game. This is not an easy prospect. It is something we've been working hard on for some time and we hope that it will come to fruition sooner than later.

Unfortunately, we don't have a date as to when this will be added to World of Warcraft. Rest assured, this is something we want to see added to the game as much as our fans do. Once it is in place, we will all breath a collective sigh of contentment... just before we leap to our desks and join the queues to begin bashing our way to the TOP!

I just found that quote from Blizzard a few days ago. Does this actually mean that a rated Battleground is in the future?

Oh please, less arena, less WSG-type BGs, and for gods sake, NO MORE VEHICLE BASED BATTLEGROUNDS!

If Blizzard added a rated Battleground system, one that was 40v40 and was old school Alterac Valley like, oh my, that would be some amazing fun.

the dev gone a bit far with VEHICLE's now they can add them into the game makes me sad to see this and exp i hope goes back to not to much more but ya a lot be said about wow at blizzCon! its going to be a Big One this year

What if the whole reason vehicles exist is to take peoples attention away from class imbalances and instead of fixing those, they just toss all classes into 1 type of class (vehicle) and roll on with that (no pun intended)?

Dont expect to ever see a BG on the scale old-school AV ever again. That just isnt going to happen. A dev have always gone slap happy over any new mechanic to the point where we get overwhelmed by it. Vehicles are this Xpac's version of daily quests.

Next xpac we'll get something else we'll get buried in. That's just a fact of this game's development.

I, for one, love the vehicle combat in BGs. In, fact, is just a different incarnation of the AV assualt NPCs from the PoV of those not in the vehicle. You escort this thing though the enemy field and then let it breakthrough the opposition's defenses. The only difference is that its a player control 'the Reavers' or 'the Elemental lord'.

Imagine if someone could have controled the elemental. Then, everyone would be clamoring to hop in. The only argument to that is that the npcs werent required in AV, but more or less are in WotLK.

All-in-all, vehicles wont replace the need to continuously balance classes. At any given time, so small of a percentage of the players are in a vehicle. In SotA, 4/15 at most. In WG 20 of the over 150 Blackrock fields on each side. Im not sure about IoC, but I doubt we'll see more than 1/4 people in a vehicle.

After playing a healer for so long, its so satifying to hop into this behemoth and wreck the very landscape of the BG.

I remember the first time I hopped in a vehicle for pvp. It was as a passenger ia demo in SotA. All I was doing was HEAL HEAL HEAL and then suddenly I was a shield sniper shooting anything that was close. PEW PEW PEW! I loved it and still do.
