| thank you for the quick response, win7 is so much nicer then xp.... i built my computer for vista but never got around to buying vista. still working on getting all my programs reinstalled but so far win7 64bit is running so much faster then xp ever could. when u say install to \users\public which program are u talking about? still waiting on WoW to finish downloading{sitting at 9% right now} so i cant set up the game paths, but so far it opens

| Senior Member | Actually good point... forgot to mention that. Both WoW and Pwnboxer. Both programs can have weird issues with "rights" to certain things if not placed in this folder. I make a subfolder in "Public" for "Games" and for "Applications" and put WoW and Pwnboxer in them respectively.

| I myself created a folder on the desktop called Pwnboxer, where I put all my configs, as well as all the Pwnboxer files right in there. Works really ez, and essentially is the same thing as what muffin said (the c:\users part). |

| Once you have everything installed, right click on the short cut. Go to compatibility tab, and check the box for Run as Administrator. With Vista/Win7, administrator rights let a program make changes to the disk, such as saving settings when you exit or such. Quite often, without administrator permissions you get the odd error here or there, and they can be hard to troubleshoot. When errors occur for Vista/Win7, one of the first things asked is, are you running as an administrator. If you are running warcraft as an administrator, anything you want to run in conjunction will likely need to be run as an admin too. It might be an idea to create more then one user account. Have an administrator account for installing software. Have a non-administrator account for when you're playing a game or browsing the internet. You can still give administrator permissions, if there's no password on the account you won't need to do anything more then click a box. When browsing the net on a non-administrator account, a lot of malicious programs won't be able to make changes to your system. |
