My biggest issue was intern work during the summer. When I start up college again I'll be able to scan the site every 30 minutes or so during and between class.

I think the biggest feature that would help would be a simple question, not a captcha when someone signs up. Something like

Are you a human or robot?
What color is red?
What is 1+1?

I agree, as mentioned some time ago:

I've added a silly question in one of my forums and the spam dropped 90%.
Simply add a box with a question such as:
"What colour is milk", or "what color is the sky", "what is five plus two"
and an open text box.

english speakers will easily type "white", "blue', "seven" in the box, and all the russian, chinese, nigerian (to name a few) or robots won't.

Oh god yes! Its been a while when I signed up, so I don't remember if there was a captcha device built in. I hope the new MB.com will have that, which i'm sure it will. Any idea on when the new site will be up btw?

Hey Drar,

The new MB will probably be some custom mix of self created PHP, Wordpress, Invision PowerBB (forum, commercial software, I bought it a while ago but never used it).

Then again, I'm not entirely sure. I haven't thought it all through. Just yet. I'll probably poll the community, recruit helpers, and together we form a plan on what we want and how we will build it.

So seriously, brainstorm away

Yep, me too. Got my girlfriend here wondering what I'm doing surfing p0rn... And I use my laptop down at my store too, I'd hate to have a customer see that crap. So I don't think I'll be coming back here anymore. I come to see new posts, but all I get is spam, and one or two new posts.

Default UPDATE!!!! Re: Time to fix your spam problem, Tim.

Sorry for the SPAM, I just cleaned another one out.

The issue isn't about CAPTCHA, since that is easily bypassed. The issue is more that the MB.com site is extreeeeeemly popular in Google. We get a crapload of traffic from Google searches.

As a result, SPAMMERs also decide to spam the site.

But let me see about doing something.

I'm going to add one of those "Questions" to new signups.

I'm going to do it RIGHT NOW as well

I just did new measures to stop SPAM per your recommendations.

New ANTI-SPAM measures now in place!

That is a new thread on the new measures, lets move the conversation over to there and see how things go. This is for NEW accounts, so any hiding spam accts will have to be banned, but moving forward, things should be good!

Thanks for the patience and suggestions all!!!!!

EDIT: Sorry Zub and Drar for that crap you saw earlier. I saw it too. Ugg Hopefully things will be better.
