Default team setup?

Im just beeing curious but why did you choose your team setup, wich was the reason? pvp, pve or grind

Personally i choose 4 shamans and 1 druid for pve purpose and for pvp my druid is gonna spec boomkin or resto, ill see when i get to that.

I didnt want to roll a pure druid team since i already have one on EU server, and i found that shammans are good fun to play.

why did you choose your team?

The main reason why I am rolling two hunters is due to the fact my school laptop fails at running stuff. Three WoWs might kill it >.<

Plus two hunters can tear stuff up

Default Re: team setup?

I have several teams.

1) Paladin x1, Shaman x4
2) Priest, Mage, Druid, Shaman, Warlock
3) Druid x5
4) Warlock x5
5) Something all Melee x5
6) Hunter x5
7) Priest x5

I started with Shamans x5, because of inspirational PvP video's. All of the same class is by far the easiest to box. All the hotkeys are the same on every toon. Sure you set some up as round-robin, and others as all-at-once.

I quickly got fed up with the collection quests in WotLK, so moved two of the leveling shamans off of the team, replacing them with a Prot Paladin and a Naxx25 geared Elemental Shaman. Four collections is less painful then five.

The Paladin opened up heroics, and that is fun to box.

The second team is assorted toons which were already 70th (with epic flyers) before the release of WotLK.

This team is essentially leveling purely for extra dailies. I make 1100-1150g in an hour, running 15 dailies each or 75 total with my first team. A bear gives them a tank option, but I doubt this team will do heroics or pvp beyond the odd AV for experience. Still 2200-2300g in two hours will be nice until I'm sick of dailies.

5x Druids is a very interesting team.

The goal is PvP (alliance side) with them. They will not advance far in arena, because druids severely lack burst. If nature's swiftness were to apply to starfall (arcane, not nature) they'd have similar burst to an elemental shaman.

Still, they have massive AoE (starfall, hurricane, treants), stealth via cat, a ton of HoT's, round-robin Battle Rez, Innervate and Tranquility etc. Moonkin give them high armor. With IS Boxer's keymaps I can easily manage Eclipse procs on 5 Moonkin at once. Unlike every other class in the game, you can pick up quest items, herbs or ore in flight form; druids have a lot to offer.

A lot of toys to destroy in world pvp and battlegrounds. Possibly decent in arena, depending on Cataclysm changes.

I'm tempted to dual-spec one to Feral and one to Resto, for heroics on a second team. They're not 80 yet.

I'd have to say by a long shot, this is my most fun team.

5x Warlocks will be interesting.

I'm speccing them all Affliction; this too will be a pvp focused team.

They're only 1st level at the moment, but I've created them and configured their UI's, and really like their names. I went to the CDC website and looked up the most dangerous biological and chemical agents of our time. Naturally, each is named after something rather nasty.

RAF for a single team is not worthwhile, so I've decided this team will roll horde side.
That will keep it fresh, since I've not played any horde toons to double digits yet.
Putting no pressure on leveling quickly, and experiencing all of the content will be a nice change of pace.

I need to take at least a pair of DK's through their area again, so I have horde side toons to fascilitate neutral auction house gold transfers. There is a neutral AH in Winterspring and Gadgetzan, and three in Booty Bay; but as a 5-boxer I can simultaneously watch each and transfer enchanting mats for next to nothing.

I can stand to do a new team from level 1 and up, but will want their expenses paid... at least to non-epic flyers.

A lot of people are having a blast with an all melee team. I'd like to do one at some point, but will finish the mixed team, warlocks and druids before I start on them.

The hunters and priests are 60th, from RAF. But I have no interest in them at this time.

Default Re: team setup?

My team was originally going to consist of my prot paladin + 4 elemental shaman with one having the option o go resto.

Unfortunetly I found that trying to control 3 different "specs" of characters that all need 3 nearly full sets of keybinds was just to much. I couldnt get through instances it was just to complicated and bloated, I can probably attribute most of these issues to my setup which I am reworking soon to give it another go.

But in the mean time I lvl'd up my 5 shaman and run 5x Elemental shaman , in PVP and PVE.

I even game 1 resto + 4 elemental a shot in pvp but once again I wasnt quick enough dealing with the 2 sets of keybinds for pvp at least. So i ussually just run them all elemental. its not ideal for what I would really like to be doing but for now it works. And few things in game are more satisfying than firing off 5 lava bursts at some poor hordes face that are guaranteed to be crits :P

My current team is:
  • 1 Prot Pally
  • 1 Elemental Shaman
  • 1 Resto Shaman
  • 1 Balance Druid
  • 1 Marksman Hunter

Why? Because thats what EatCarbs used. I followed his post in the Macros section and I've been having lots of success. I've been able to complete instances with ease, where I couldn't do that with my previous team.

I think it really comes down to your choice: PVE? PVP? BOTH?

Shamans are the cookie cutter with WoW PVP. Excellent melee mitigation, awesome ranged attacks, awesome healing, and ability to stop fears.

For PVE, I believe the most efficient team would be a traditional makeup such as what EatCarbs has done. Pick 1 of each class that offers a strong contribution to the group.

If you go down the BOTH route, I believe you might find yourself stuck with shamans+1. Meaning, you will have 4xSham 1xPally/Druid.

I myself would recommend anybody who wants to do PVE and PVP to go 4xShaman 1xDruid. This team can do any heroic 5man with the Druid tanking, 1x Shaman as resto, and 3x Shaman as Elemental.

This team can also do PVP, with the Druid being resto, and the 4x Shaman being elemental. In fact, I am finding that 1xDruid 4xShaman seem to be more powerful in arena than 5xShaman. It is really an interesting learning even for sure!

If by pvp you mean arena, there are very few compositions which a boxer can win at. If you mean BG's, then almost anything will work to some degree. The only compositions successful in high end arena so far are 4x Elem. Shaman or 4x Ret. Paladin.

For PvE, the top composition seems to be 2x Elemental Shaman + 1x either Warlock or Boomkin for the 13% spell power buff. Then go with 1x Prot Paladin for the tank and a healer, with Priest as probably the top pick but several like Druid (especially if they went Warlock on dps) or a 3rd shammy. The boomkin gets a little more utility then the warlock, but the warlock is much easier to one-button spam.

Ultimately, pick classes which you enjoy to play.
With RAF, you can easily get 5 accounts filled within the 3 months, if you're not sure what you want to play.

A mixed team is definitely harder to set up, but once you have it tweaked, they're not that much harder to play. Most of the abilities are on similar hotkeys to a one-two class team. There will be 4-5 big special things, like Battle Rez, Bloodlust/Heroism, Pain Suppression etc, which is both a bit more to track and more flexibility.

I started with 4 hunters 1 priest and was fun but I got sick of buying arrows n food all time so I quit at northtend n started 5xdk

this team is the most awesome fun team for pvp little mages used to try run away but you had ended deathgrips n pets I also enjoyed deathgripping at the same time because instead of pulling the target to you it used to pull it to you then shoot it into the air so high lol, but it sucked against multiple targets,

so after that I start my shams which are currently level 70

also done 5x mage to 64

5xpally to 32

5x warrior to 16
