Default Re: team setup?

I'm still figuring out what to make team-wise, so like OP I am very interested in what others have done.

I currently have 80 hunter (my raiding main), 75 druid, 70 warlock, priest & mage, split between two accounts so I could easily build a team from that. I have to wonder, though, whether it wouldn't be easier to just level a new team from scratch instead - with or without RAF and the annoyance of multiple b.net accts.

For those that have multi-class teams, how many do you have and are the general compositions the same, i.e. tank, healer, 3 x spell dps?

For those that have multple 1-2 class teams, e.g. 5 shammies, 4 ret palladins & a druid, how many do you have and what drove the selection of the dominant class in each team?

Don't make my mistake by doing 5 shammys as I'm stuck in northtend n can't do anything as you need a tank , so IDE suggest 4x shammy 1xpally

In your situation, I would definitely go with RAF, but you have two choices.

Choice A is to pick one of your two accounts, and cancel the other. If you want, you can run six accounts or transfer toons from the sixth account to your existing account or any of the four new accounts.

Your existing account is A (use it to boost the others) in the chain, and link them:
A >> B >> C >> D >> E

Choice B is to run both of your existing accounts, with three new accounts. The account with the better tank will be A, while the other account will be B. Even in AH greens, a 75 druid as a Feral spec will boost fairly well; ramparts runs with level 55 alts, as a 75 will be the most challenging, everything else is easier.

Link them like this, but use A to boost the other four:

A >> C >> D
B >> E

We link like this, because B/E is an RAF pair and C/D is as well. Then A can boost the whole lot.

The A >> B >> C >> D >> E chain is a bit stronger, because of cascading the granted levels (giving granted levels to the parent account based on granted levels received).

In either case, A will end up with several "free" toons, because they have boosted the other accounts.

With RAF, I'd get several sets. Ideally level 4x (on B-E) a lot of combinations, as many as you can handle. At the least, I'd go 4x Shaman, 4x Another Caster Type, 4x Melee, 4x Mixed.

Playing very casually, you can boost a team 1-60 in under a week. You have three months of RAF time.

I would try to end up with 4x healers, one per account. And 4x tanks, one per account. Even if your toon doesn't spec as a healer or tank, you have the option for doing so on each account.

I personally went: 4x Shaman, 4x Druid, 4x Priest, 4x Hunter, and wish I had gone 4x Warlock + 4x Melee (pallies or rogues).

RAF is just to give you options.

One of the combinations will be your "main" group. You'll level them to 80th first, possibly bouncing from this group to another, to maximize your rested bonus.

The cookie cutter build is Prot Paladin + 4x Shaman. Or go 1x Warlock/Boomkin in the place of one of the shaman.

A mixed team is a lot of fun. A little harder to set up, and a few more keys to remember, but more flexible too.

An all melee team has a very different feel.

An instance/progression team is good too, typically you want a tank, healer and 3x dps (which can be the same class or 2/1 or 3 classes).

A pvp team, be it for BG's, Arena or both can be fun too.

You'll probably end up with 1-3 teams you play a lot, but RAF will get you options to go whatever way you feel like. It is a lot faster 1-60 during RAF then 1-60 afterwards. Plus leveling a toon to 60th, even with another toon boosting you, gets you a feel for how they work and what they can do.

My biggest annoyance with the 4xshaman route is the lack of racial choices as alliance. I was originally considering only using human as my race so I could get the rep gain bonus but that doesn't work for shamans.

I guess I could convert the druid to horde and use it to boost - which would have the extra advantage of letting me see all new content. Is their a particular horde racial bonus that is better than the others?

I dove into 5 boxing after 2 boxing my existing Rogue and Druid to 80 at the start of WotLK. I went with a fully mixed team because I didn't see many people doing it at the time. I went with:

Prot Pally
Elem Shammy
Destro Lock
Frostfire Mage
Holy Priest

While there were many frustrating moments, I spent 60-80 learning to synchronize their spells as much as possible and make them work together as smoothly as possible. Of course all that went out the window when I jumped into instances and heroics at 80 and I quickly learned that this was not going to be easy. It took quite awhile but for several months now I have been farming all heroics with the exception of occulus, haven't even tried that one yet. I have trouble on the brann event and also the guantlet in UP, but other than that they are cake. It was not until I started utilizing /click casting that everything really came together, but now I love my team, the buffs, food, portals, etc.

Of course the inevitable happened and I got bored. I raid with my Shammy but farming heroics a chore. So now I have a 5x Shammy team at 72 and having a blast with them. My plan is to get them to 80, sub in my very idle druid to tank heroics with, use the 5th Shammy in place of my raiding Shammy on my original team and farm up gear with them and use them basically for BG's when I'm bored of heroics and dailies. I also may try raiding with 2,3,4 or 5 shammies, just to see if I can do it.
