| Senior Member | You should try and get him onto Pwnboxer Tim... Ghetto boxing is a pretty inefficient way of multiboxing. Also, in the comments of that, I had a bit of a discussion with someone that made me lol... they couldn't seem to grasp the meaning of 'multi': Quote:
Don't mean to make fun of anyone, but that was pretty funny (to me)

| That is funny! But it isn't so much their fault, there is a lot of misunderstanding about what multiboxing is, and what it isn't. Some people just don't know! Edit: I do suppose that the basic understanding of what dual equals and what multi equals extends outside of gaming : ) That is exactly why I like the word "multiboxing" over "dualboxing". While I do own multiboxing.com people might think that is why I like the word multiboxing. But what people don't know is that I also own dualboxing.com ! I commented on his Swifty's video and somehow I'm the most ranked comment? Cool cool Last edited by Tim; 11-23-2011 at 05:08 PM. Reason: equals |

| Neither term is exactly correct anymore. It used to refer to when you had more than a single physical "box". As in two or more computers, each running a client (or potentially more than a single client, on one box). Most of us run multiple accounts on a single-box. I used to five box Everquest I, specifically running four toons myself and having an auction toon in the Bazaar zone... while my two roommates each ran a single toon on their computers. Yup, seven computers in the living room; a full group, plus an auction mule. |

| Senior Member | It was the whole 'multi isn't 2 or more' that cracked me up... Anyway, It'd be great if we could get someone like Swifty into the multiboxing community, although I think he's only doing it to gear his chars up. Either way, having someone like that might get a whole heap more people into it, which (to me) would be a great thing. I'd love to see this community expand further and further. Ualaa, I did think box meant PC, but it's just such a common term for playing multiple characters now (regardless of hardware setup) that it's basically distinguished terminology for doing so. Otherwise it would be... multitooning? multicharactering? multishamaning :P hehe

| As awesome as it is, I really don't like all the hype about it just because it's Swifty. And as soon as he's done capping the currency, he'll probably stop anyways. ![]() And I have to agree with Tim, I too prefer multiboxing over dualboxing. There are even those who say "oh, you're dualboxing" when I'm playing 10, which doesn't make any sense what so ever - but best to just accept what they think and get on with your life. |

| I personally multiboxed way before WoW, back in the UO days. Even though I only did two accounts, everybody still called it multiboxing in Ultima Online. I honestly have no idea why even the dual part came out at all. Take Asherons Call or Star Wars Galaxies, another game where everybody called it multiboxing. Even everquest, people (from what I recall) called it multiboxing there as well. Based on the random PSTs I get, and battleground talk, and LFD dungeons, I'd say that probably 4 out of 5 people call it multiboxing. The majority of others call it duel boxing Then some call it dual boxing. |

| Yeah, but he has an inordinate amount of influence on the fan base. If he endorses multiboxing in any form, I am betting that a lot of people who would otherwise have a negative opinion of it will decide that it's "cool" at the very least. |

| I don't think it is bad that anybody hypes up Multiboxing honestly. The more positive coverage, as long as it is well educated, accurate, and well, positive, the better! Swifty's streams and Youtubes are pretty fun to watch by the way! |
