Default SPAM bots in full force on the forums

So I was wondering why SPAM bots are messing with the MB site so much lately, causing the servers to get a little peaked out and slowing the site down.

It looks like Google's captcha system was cracked, which the forums use to stop spam, and forum systems around the world are experiencing MASSIVE amounts of SPAM as a result.

Forum Massive increase in spam attacks on my small site. What gives?

Google reCAPTCHA cracked

This means I really need to step some changes to this site, such as having new admins/moderators

The other site, has new users in their own group until they have "x" posts.
While in the "new group" and not promoted to "member", they can only post in the New Multiboxing forum.

If you could disable links and forum code, until a poster has both 10+ posts and their account is a week old, that would reduce the amount of spam by a lot. I'm pretty sure, some bots would spam anyway but not as many.

Just got back from a vacation. I saw the spammers on my Google Reader feed. Glad to hear things got resolved (or somewhat?). If any help is needed, I'd be glad to assist.

I did see some porn spam which wasn't even that good, and didn't occur to me that would have been a bot, but makes alot of sense that it would. For a sec I thought someone got their MB acct hacked, or some butt head just spammed some porn for some laughs.

I will be working on the website for my store, so I could help out a bit if need be, remove unwanted posts such as those that I saw, or at least send a PM to a mod who would be on to notify them and mark it for removal at the very least. (which did just occur to me that theres that nice little ! icon next to the online marker, so that would be handy to send the redflag too)

I'm not sure if I see the posts people mark as inappropriate. But I tend to catch them within minutes if i'm active, or within the hour if im checking every so often.

But I do a spam purge every morning when I get up. I'm fighting for you fellow forum users!

And remember, knowing is half the battle!
