Default Silly question - WoW off a USB stick?

Just curious, has anybody ever managed to play WoW off a USB memory stick?

I haven't per se, but it can be done. The read/write speed sucks though

People have tried it on the other site.
The performance sucks, and the gameplay is not fun.

But it's a fast way to transfer the game, without needing to patch everything.
Copy it to its new home, run the repair utility, and the registry is updated for the new location.

Yea you're probably right. I have an Intel Atom UMPC that I bought a while ago that just hangs around, was thinking to see if WoW loads up on it

I think one of the main problems with running WoW off of a USB stick is the overhead from the USB bus its-self. Being that its only 480 Mbps you have an overhead that will be non-existent when USB 3.0 hits mainstream. As for right now the fastest sticks I have seen only flow at read speeds of up to 34MB/sec. and write speeds of up to 28.6MB/sec and that was the Corsair Voyager GTR series.
