Rift - Multiboxing in World of Warcraft and Beyond!

Anyone checked out RIFT much yet? I've pretty much got over WoW, even though cata is out, it still all just feels the same.

I've been looking into this new game called RIFT that's due for release 01/03/2011 and it's looking fantastic. I don't think it's going to fall into the failed MMO categories like AION, etc. It looks like a really solid game, so check it out if you haven't already.

If you have seen it, have you thought about boxing in it? I thought it'd be a really cool idea to box in this game but I don't think i'm going to go down the boxing path again, it really is just too difficult for someone with my Australian latency. But if one of you guys is going to give it a go, i'd like to start on the same server so I can see how you go with it.

I think the game is looking really refined. I have some BETAs and definitely will be checking it out soon. People stream the beta live a ton and it is looking VERY nice.

Wow, you've got BETAs? I've been trying to get in to the BETA for ages and I simply can't get in.

I don't suppose there's any chance of you letting me use one? I've been dying to give it a go. I've quit WoW for good and now I don't have anything to play... Lol I just want something new :P

Awesome!

I'm really excited for this, big time.

From what I have heard, you can launch the game multiple times as well (w/o any shady hacks) which means natively and technically it would support multiboxing.

I just played Rift for a short while today, seems a little more similar to WAR than WoW in terms of general style and interface. The intro cinematic is terrible, hackneyed script and voice acting - but the graphics in-game are pretty decent. I don't really see them being a big step forward from WAR though.

Interested to play some more and check it out.

I've been playing all day today. I tell ya... once you get out of the starting area, the game becomes 100% better. I agree, the intro sucks balls... but it seems to have a solid story. The one large problem i have with this game is that once the large invasions start... there goes the server. When that happens, everyone on the server is complaining about 13000ms or more... i've experienced 48k before DCing...

The game is great and I definately will play it, trading in my WoW hat for a Rift hat. But they need to address the latency issues, cos it bites.

I didn't have any lag issue with the previous beta tests, but this one i get extreme lag and random disconnects.

Ok, after I got over the lag and really looked past that (cos I know they'll address that before release) the game is AWESOME. The graphics are just phenomenal... With everything maxxed except shadows (which are turned off) the game runs on 25fps. On a system with a 9600GSO (pretty average card)... Definately going to look into getting something with a bit more grunt before release though. I just wish I could afford it... i think the best thing i could get with the money i got is a HD6850 or something.

Anyway, back to the game. First class I played was a guardian mage, loved it! I did a Necro/Chloro/Ele spec. The ele part of the the spec probably wasn't a good idea, warlock or dominator woulda been a better choise in hindsight. I got this guy to level 11. Next I tried a defiant Warrior... loved it more! This time i went all out into tanking, going Void Knight/Reaver/Warlord (for more tanking ability, the warlord coulda been changed into paladin but warlord sounded better). A combination of two of the void knight's abilities was doing some incredible damage! At level 7, with 3 attack points using these two moves (forget their names) i was able to do 170 dmg a hit. To put that in perspective, my mage was doing max 50 damage hits at this point and enemies had probably about 250hp. I got this guy to level 12

Next I tried an offensive warrior, going Champion/Riftblade/Paragon. This looked like the class/spec for me, but I didn't get too far with it (only level 5) so I'll have to see how I go with it later tonight!

I am currently running ranger/marksman and havent decided on a third final soul yet. Currently doing a bard for the third soul. All these souls make for a lot of options.
