Default [PvP] MoP - Rets

For a Ret based team, primarily interested in battleground style PvP....

Would you run 5x Retribution Paladins, or 4x Rets + 1x Something else?
And why would you do so?

I was thinking about this a lot lately, and I think maybe it would depend on a preference of who you liked to main control, as well as run speed things to consider. For example, I think Rets can run faster than Holy Pallies, right?

So here is something Ualaa, what about 5x Priests, spamming Holy Nova till the end of time?

Default Re: [PvP] MoP - Rets

Priests are an interesting composition, and a lot of people like both healing specs (Disc and Holy) as well as Shadow.

Holy Nova will be decent healing...
Blizzard did post that they will remove the ability to heal through DPS, from the Priest class... so no more healing via Holy Fire & Smite; not sure if Holy Nova will escape untouched or not.
I suppose they want that to be the thing that Monks do...

I cannot see a team of priests as having nearly the ability to destroy opposition as the Rets or DK's or Ferals (which are the three teams I'm looking at).

Seal of Righteousness gives Rets melee-cleave, meaning they're going to destroy any group of toons that doesn't also have a cleave type attack.

Rebuke (Rets) or Mind Freeze (DK's), will passively (well, as part of your DPS spam... but off of the GCD) interrupt enemy spell casting and lock their school out.
Melee, who are in your face via IWT and are swarming around you... causes a lot of spells to be lost, because you lack proper facing.
I see both of these teams, as something that casters are especially going to detest/fear.

Spammable (against low health targets) Hammer of Wrath is going to be a very strong finishing tool, that will likely make most compositions rather jealous.

Similarly, the Rets have far more survival tools available to them... starting with wearing Plate Armor for an extra 30-35% melee mitigation compared to Cloth Armor.

Bubble is extremely strong, unless your opposition has a bubble popper, which is not that common.
In BG's or World-PvP (raiding their cities or defending your own, is basically the only world pvp that occurs), you can also Hand of Protection an ally.

Sacred Shield is looking to be a contender for Selfless Healer at that tier of talents; passively blocking damage from any source (half your spell power plus 6K) every six seconds... could be better than 1/3rd less mana and 1/3rd higher healing Flash of Lights, per Judgement stack (stacking up to 3 times).

Hand of Freedom is uninterrupted movement, when you need it; and their base movement will be 30% most of the time.
Not to mention Emancipate, removing a movement impairing effect and Cleanse to remove Crippling Poison too.

Word of Glory (x4), without a cooldown is going to be enough healing for a team, without needing a dedicated healer... although you could go with a Healer or another toon that adds something to the team.

If you run the Rets with a Frost DK, you get a ranged snare and a ranged root... the AoE Death Grip ability... Chains of Ice will also purge, via a glyph... you would have 20% melee haste... a Battle Rez... another Rebuke (Mind Freeze)... Path of Frost (for AB, or water in general) plus all five toons are high DPS melee swarming the target.

I'm not even sure if a DK is the best addition to the team, but I do know what a Frost DK brings to the table.

Personally, I'd think a fifth DPS will add more to the team than a healer would...
Although running a Healer with four Rets won't be a bad choice.
