New ANTI-SPAM measures now in place!

Hey all,

I've added a new ANTI-SPAM measures since things are getting crazy out of control.

New accounts are now going to have to answer 2 new questions. The question's answer will probably only be known to gamers, and it isn't too hard. If you don't know the answer then you probably know nothing about MMORPGs

This new question is going to be changed from time to time, probably every couple weeks.

Fun note: Actually 0 new SPAM accounts created in the past 12 or so hours. Whoot, its a start!

Another update: I am going to re-affirm the IP bans that were put in place which is going to wipe out any duplicated SPAM bots that were banned or are trying to thwart bans due to patterns in IP, thread access, email address pre/post changes, etc.

TLDR: More spam bots will be deleted due to ban correlations.

Update: Somewhere around 100 accts got banned first-pass of doing correlation bans. Whoot.

While some spammers are still slipping through, I have noticed a decline in the number of spam messages. When I make my morning rounds, I would see at least 5 spam posts, but now I see 1 or 2. A small victory in the battle against the spam bots.

I've noticed something as well, that the SPAM posts that do come up are from accounts that were created BEFORE the anti-SPAM measures go in place. At least the ones I banned are.

Are you seeing that as well?

If so, then I think its more of a "moving forward" anti-SPAM that doesn't quiet catch the accounts made before it.

But either case, definitely a victory so far

Erm, is there any way to make accounts inactive for 1 month fill in a question to 'reactivate' the account? that would solve this pretty much id guess

Considering that a lot of people lurk without posting, that might not be a good idea.

Besides, spam is down now by over 90% since this change. Whoot!
