Default New 5boxer

Hey!

New to 5boxing, and would like to start a full 5man RAF team. Ive done a lot of dual-boxing in the past, however this is my first attempt to organize a 5man team.

The idea was running 5man shaman, mostly cause then i can get used to having to deal with the higher amount of chars then i'm used to, mostly I've dual-boxed or tri-boxed (in other games however). Also I've seen videos and read that they are decent, and not at-least since everyone are same class a lot easier to prep and handle at same time. Again thats only what I've read and seen so far. And partly lazy, im not in the mood of having to learn 5 classes since ive been away from WoW for a year.

Its been a while since ive played WoW but i do have a few spare chars i could use, for instance i have 80 Pala (holy/tank), 80 Hunter (beast), and 80 DK (blood) I could use. And a handful of other random chars in the range 60 - 70.

Maybe endgame i could swap one shaman for one of the other chars, ie pala for tanking?

Sorta depends on what you want to do with them. Personally I'd rather level them as a tankclass + 4 shams so that you can do your own LFD instances.

At level cap if you want to PVP 5 x shams could be fun. If you prefer to PVE you could swap in one of the tanks and make one of the shams resto (or run as 4 dps).

I used to dual box but when i went to 5 i had 5 shamans and got bored so i started my 5 druids and it is alot more fun and for both pve and pvp they are very versatile as you already have a tank and all 4 slaves can heal which is overkill healing its really fun, and stealth is great for pvp

my druids are 65 and still enjoying doing my own 5 man dungeons

If you have one account, start the RAF chain from that account.
Go with an A > B > C > D > E chain.

If you have two accounts already, call the existing accounts A & B.
Go with: A > C > D -and- B > E.
This assumes the booster (Pally/DK) is on A.

I'd suggest you boost as many teams as you think you might play at some point.
A decent progression is:
01-10 Quest
10-15 Deadmines
16-20 Stockades
20-45 Scarlet Monastery
45-55 Strath/Scholo
55-60 Ramparts

I boosted: Druids, Hunters, Priests and Shamans.
Since boosting, I've leveled/am leveling: Death Knights and Warlocks.
And am thinking (wishing I had done, with RAF): Mages and Paladins.

Even if you don't end up playing a given composition, you can use them for tradeskills, particularly passive transmute skills.
I've got 34 alchemists, which generate a substantial amount of gold per day, in 5 minutes of clicking transmute, plus a few mins per team of trading/mailing mats or finished results back and forth.

You can play a team in PvE, PvP, or both.
If you want to run PvE, I'd suggest a Tanking Toon, Healing Toon, and three DPS toons.
Try for as much synergy as possible.

By having a tanking class and healing class (even if none are spec'd that way), you can queue for dungeons, via the Random Dungeon Finder, which can be quite nice.

For PvP, a tank class is not necessarily the best member of a team, since the opposition won't respond to threat increasing talents or such. But if your tank is also a DPS or Healer, they can contribute in PvP as they keep your team up or help kill stuff.

A basic choice is to go predominantly as a ranged or melee team. Both work out quite well, and you can even mix them.
