Mage Fun!

Hey! I'm new here

My current group of choice is 5 x mage @ level 74, I'm currently progressing through dungeons and questing and have been recording my progress on my blog here:

Mudgem's Mage Mash - Lots of screenshots and general comments about various instances I've completed with them so far.

I did enough PVP (/w arcane) for about 1350 HP @ lvls 68-69, but I've heard it gets much harder to box mages in PVP as the levels get higher.

I've since been checking out the fire tree and think it looks a 'blast'! It's been YEARS since I've played a fire mage.. and I'm looking forward to giving it ago in AV. Anyone else doing battlegrounds with mages? much success?

Time to dig through these forums to see what treasures I can find

oh damn! I'm gonna follow you, I'm working on my 5x mages as well now. dude 5x arcane mages can solo cata roics 5man yes at 85 fresh mage will be hard until you get gear, ive seen frost mages in 5v5- not boxed, but it was crazy to see what 5 mages can do

A certain 'someone' raves about "Living Bomb", it does sound like a lot of fun against lots of groups of players. Also playing with the talent tree, lots of nice 'instant' fire destruction.

With frost is it using pet nova and ice lance mostly to kill?

I have heard about the heroics being done as a mage group Currently doing dungeons, @ level 74 versus a level 78 boss I wasn't phased by the level gap I removed the UI and just spammed arcane blast whilst taking screenshots. Though I might have moved a bit had I remembered his AOE whirlwind.

I might consider a bit of PVP with them as fire @ 74 - but it seems a bit of a downgrade if I buy the lvl70 PVP gear - hope it's worth it versus heirlooms.

you got heirloom gear that is amazing! jump into pvp at higher bracket I.E 74, 78, 84. get that honor capped for 85.

frost mages have so much potential in pvp, lots of CC plus damage from pets./freeze in place

I cant wait for patch 4.3 for my shamans. insta chain lightning

@68/69 I stood at Balinda and fired off mirrors as the first horde crept in. I then spammed a castsequence of Arcane Blast, Ice Lance, Fireblast, Arcane Blast, Ice Lance, Ice Lance.. or something Most people died to AB x 5 anyway, Ice Lance/Fireblast helped finish off the others and keep instance output going.

Quite a few times I completely halted the horde attack on Balinda.

ya I play horde. Whats nice about icelance, and few other spells you have no cast time, on my shaman all i can use instant is the lightning bolt while running - lava bust only does is damage, on mages i could freeze mele in place and blink -

btw, does blink work on all 5 toons?

Well blink works and as long as they're all facing in the same direction it doesn't mess you up entirely.

I tried frost last night, then fire... then arcane - I'm not sure if it's the level bracket but I was demoralised by the amount of damage I lacked. Also could be that I was new to fire/frost like this, so maybe it takes practice.

I even picked up PVP epics to go along side my heirlooms - it was an upgrade on the last 4 levels of greens (damn i could have got them ages ago!) My health went up 2k which was nice.

Played the mages a bit more this evening, the ampitheatre in northend was easy as pie, didn't bother with mirrors for the first few fights. Since i had just turned 75 I did gun'drak again -cleared with no hiccups, no deaths..woo good fun.
