Made 30k in ~24 hrs, got suspended for 3 hours?

Hey guys,

So check this out...

I've been spending time learning money making on my own so I could write up a really nice step-by-step tutorial for easily making mad cash from literally nothing. I've got some CRAZY ways nobody has even heard about, its nuts.

Anyway, today I made 30k gold. The second it seemingly hit 30k (as in, when a final auction sold for like 50g, tipping it over), I suddenly got disconnected. I then got a password reset email in the mail. Then 2 minutes later after changing my password, I got another email saying I was suspended for 3 hours.

What the heck?

Anybody see this before?

I have a theory or two. I do know in order to make that much you would have to have had several big auction pop off at once or a large number of small auctions. you could have been hit with a program, that is a lot of dough to make in such a short amount of time. They may have thought you to have been a bot. on the other hand a lot of smaller auctions could have flagged you as some one trying to create a monopoly, not saying you were but it could have been construed as such even if it wasn't.
I also know your not one to throw the TSU and EULA around as if it were a dirty napkin, so some thing you did may have just thrown a red flag. I can not say I have ever seen this happen before, but the email should have given some detail as to why as well.

Yea that is probably what it was. Its funny because I was sitting there waiting for the 30,000 gold in 24hrs to hit.. and then BAM!

Well my thoughts on the matter are this;

Blizzard take solid action against BOTS in which they may have made a program in which once you earn a specific amount of gold within a specific time span, out comes the banhammer with an automated service.

BOTs won't be able to reset there passwords as quickly as you did, Tim therefore may receive a permanent ban if time taken to reset is longer than say a few hours?

It may be ideal to e-mail blizzard or send an in-game ticket once the ban is up and see whats happening. You may have just been too good for there system!

Yea that probably is it, I just made too much gold too quickly

Note: I can log back into my account, seemingly right away. Maybe they made a mistake?

Going by my theory of an automated system is in place, which, knowing Blizzard that is almost a certainty for BOT Prevention, what Nghtmr9999 states is also most certainly the issue.

Tim, I would suggest opening a ticket and asking for some clarification to see if there are indeed limitations on the Gold per day before autobanning. Basically, question there BOT Prevention syste. Alternatively, Open a thread on the Official forums, although, I can almost guarantee it gets locked instantly. It seems that since the release of Cata, the gold making can be so easily achieved by some people that maybe they need to increase the possible limit before ban / reset email is sent.

By what I've noticed, many of the people I know, like myself have been making large sums of gold. they consider it suspicious activity and autoban. It is unfortunate that the GMs don't take the time to at least contact the player or account. But meh...a GM ticket from a different account + a phone call + and ingame mail. I got my account restored and an official apology.

I would ensure you have a keyfob authenticator attached to your account. That, or the phone application, is one of the best security measures you can take for your account.

Not sure on the auto-flagging for 30k in gold in auctions. I thought they had auto flagging for trade character to character, especially when they're not on the same B.Net or have the same name on the accounts.

I've made 50k in one day on the auction house before (that's my best single day 51k and change), and have not been banned/suspended/locked out. I've also transferred 214k between characters, just for the "most gold every owned" statistic (back when that was the gold cap).

Even if your account is back in your control, I'd definitely contact billing and see what is up. They can put a note on your account, which should help in the future.
