Default Lonely Being a multiboxer

Been multiboxing since march, well i multiboxed only a month after playing wow. multiboxing is what got me interested in wow.

Was 5 multiboxing and loved it.
in october i cancelled 4 accounts with xmas coming up and wanting to solo cataclysm for awhile.

Problem is i get no joy running solo and multiboxing is what i love.
So ive now gone back to 3 accounts, mainly because my computer cant handle the 5th at the moment.

So now im running with 3, questing and instances and its pretty lonely.
People leave the instance as soon as they know your multiboxing.
Multiboxers are just hated, no one understands it. Friends list is now empty.
I dont argue or insult those that argue and insult me about it all. I try to be nice when people are curious about it all, but theres just nothing you can do.

Now im sitting in SW wondering whats the point even playing the game.

Was going to create a new 3 team to experience all the changes and instances but now im not so sure because i know what to expect on my travels

Sorry to hear you are going through that Strom >.<

Are you in <BUT MOM IM MULTIBOXING> on Blackrock? I'm sure there are lots of people in that guild willing to run instances with you.

But I agree, it seems like multiboxers are hated quite a bit in WoW. I'm not sure if people think it's cheating, or if they just get mad when they get 3v1ed. There is hardly any difference between a 3 boxer and a group of 3 people talking over vent or mumble.

I'm not sure if Tim is working on something like this for Pwnboxer 3 (if he even will disclose such information), but I think there should be some sort of community mumble or vent server for multiboxers and members of this forum to use. It shouldn't seem so lonely when you are talking to other people.

All in all, from what I've seen on Tim's stream, you need to have a thick skin of sorts. There will be hate, you can't change that. Just /ignore the haters and move on.

People on my server don't hate me because I multibox. In fact, it has brought me in contact with quite a few people on my server because my actions in game caught their attention.

Taking a break from the game, from time to time can be helpful. It recharges the game and makes it fun again.

If you five box, that's $75/month. Peanuts really, for the amount of time you can put into the hobby. But that's also a lot of the same thing over and over.

If you remain gaming in general, even if its a first person shooter or an offline roleplaying game, chances are Warcraft will call you back down the road. If you totally get out of gaming on computers, then you stand a better chance at escaping the hobby.

Either way, when you're burnt out... either you move on, or you take a break and come back then have a lot more fun with it.

My biggest recommendation: Try playing 3 or 4 at a time and then do LFDs and play with other people. It is a ton of fun actually, especially when they ask questions

That's what Strom was doing Tim . The issue Strom is having is that people leave as soon as they see a multiboxer

I've never had that issue, could only guess it is a detail then unrelated to multiboxing.

Im not burnt out with wow, far from it.

Guess im just having an off day/weekend. It normally doesnt really get to me. Just since ive gone 3boxing.

Whats weird is that when im running my 3 druids i hardly ever get any problems
Its mostly people excited how great there doing or seeing 3 boomkins with 9 trents.

I dont think its me personely they hate, they say they just hate multiboxers in general.
Atleast i think, cant say ive done anything myself to upset people :/

I guess its true what you say, you have to have a very thick skin when multiboxing.

Ok just going to edit most of this post, comes out as to much ramble and whinge and ive had a cold for 2 months so im a bit grumpy

The trick is the MB Friendly servers. For some reason, it seems, that there are a lot more people that don't like MBing on certain servers. I find that, obviously, Blackrock is a big one, I also find RP servers kind'a like it as long as you aren't a douche about it.

The other consideration...

Which is more fun for you:
a) Five-boxing, being self-sufficient. Having the challenge of controlling everything, building macros etc.
b) Three-boxing, needing two other players to do instances. More flexibility in the smaller PvP battlegrounds and likely more successful because of it. Having to put up with some idiots be it crappy players or aversion to multiboxing? Having company when you play, and someone to talk to.

If you prefer the 5-box route, what kind of upgrades will you need to box at a level of settings that you can enjoy playing?

If you prefer the 3-box route, or the upgrades are not an option, strongly consider speccing Tank + Healer, as these are the roles which are generally lacking. A tank might get a queue in under a minute, a healer might average a triple the time wait, a DPS will average a twenty to fifty times greater wait than a tank; I can see a tank dumping a boxer for a 20 second wait, or a healer dumping a group for a 60 second wait, but DPS are unlikely to drop the group and need to queue for another ten or fifteen minutes.
