Default Live stream FAQs

::[GENERAL/SOFTWARE/HARDWARE QUESTIONS]::
What is Multiboxing?
  • Multiboxing is a term in online gaming wherein you play multiple copies of the same game at once in order to alleviate grinding levels, farming materials, or just in general have fun.

Is Multiboxing legal?
  • No one in World of Warcraft has ever gotten banned for playing multiple characters at once; in fact, Blizzard encourages it.

    HERE is a collection of screenshots and forum posts from Game Masters on Multiboxing. (Thanks for the link, Rekky!)

What program does [Tim] use to multibox?
  • Tim uses a program called Pwn Boxer that allows you to easily and effectively run multiple instances of Warcraft on the same computer effeciently, allowing you to limit FPS (Frames per second) all within a single, customizable window. Examples: [1]

What equipment does [Tim] use? What is his hardware setup?
What does [Tim] use in order to brodcast his live stream?
  • Tim uses another computer system with a Hi-Definition capture card to broadcast all live streams.

::[General Character Information and Questions]::

How often does [Tim] play?
  • Tim only plays his five boxed characters while broadcasting. Brodcasting usually starts at 8:00 CST, and broadcasts anywhere between 6 and 24 hours.

    To figure out when this broadcasts in your time zone, refer HERE (Simply put CST as the first time zone, along with whichever time the graphic displays, and your timezone in the second box.)

    Additionally, if you "Favorite" the channel, Justin.tv will send you an e-mail any time Tim broadcasts live.

How much does it cost to play five characters at once?
  • To activate each account for one month of gameplay, it costs $15.00, per account. (15.00 x 5 = $75.00 USD to active all five accounts)
  • Tim is currently in the Burning Crusade expansion, which costs $20.00 to upgrade, per account (20.00 x 5 = $100.00 USD to upgrade all five accounts to the Burning Crusade)
  • In the future, Tim will pay $25.00 per account [To upgrade to Wrath of the Lich King]. ($25.00 x 5 = 125.00)
  • This alone is costing Tim $300.00 USD, plus an additional $75.00 a month he chooses to keep these characters active.

What server does [Tim] play on?
  • The server the live feed takes place on is BLACKROCK - US. The server is located in the Western United States, and is very heavily populated by Oceanic and Australian players. It's got a very strong economy, with a huge player base.

Can I join the guild?
  • You may join BUT MOM, I'M MULTIBOXING by asking any existing member in the guild. It is an open guild, and any member may recruit new members.

What happened to the Shaman?
  • There are two reasons why [Tim] quit playing the Shaman. The first being problems with crashing, causing all five instances of Warcraft to shut down at once because of the way Windows handles un-responding programs.

    The second reason the shaman was abandoned was because [Tim] enjoyed Circle of Healing's ability to heal all four pets, all four hunters, and the priest at once, versus the limited amount of healing Chain Heal offers.

What spec is (Character name)?
  • Tim has six characters on this server. Four Hunters, a Priest, and a Shaman. Up-to-date information on all of Tim's characters may be found below:

::[General Macro/UI Questions]::
Make sure to visit the MACRO and ADDON/UI for more in-depth information

What addon replaces the default interface (What are the big, pretty buttons?)
  • This is an addon called Bartender4. It replaces the default interface with customizable, movable buttons you can re-size and move to your liking.

What is the graph that goes up and down during fights?
  • This is an addon called Recount. It shows detailed information on all party and raid damage, healing, and other useful information that easily allows you tweak spell rotations for maximum output. Tim primarily uses it to make sure his hunters aren't in Aspect of the Viper (Which lowers your damage output significantly in return for increasing your mana)

What addon displays the information and location of quests?
  • This addon is called Quest Helper. Although it takes a lot of PC resources, it's a very helpful resource in both leveling and completing dailies, recommended for Day-1 newbies to 4-Year veterans alike.

It's also a quick easy way to copy/paste answers for questions asked every couple of minutes. Even with an FAQ, people are still very likely to ask in chat as it provides a quicker, direct answer.

Since a lot of people ask if multiboxing is legal or not, here is the link that has the screenshots Tim shows in the stream.

Mousecloner.com - Own your mouse (Proof it's legal)

Why would he pay $25 per account?
