We recently made a change to the way experience is calculated and wanted to take some time to explain this change in order to clear up some confusion some may be having in regard to their rate of progress. If you are currently at the maximum level that you can be for an expansion (or higher), killing creatures from that expansion will now grant 10% of normal experience.


Examples:
Level 60 or higher players get 10% normal experience for killing creatures in Azeroth (“Old world” content)
Level 70 or higher players get 10% of normal experience for killing Burning Crusade creatures.
Level 80 or higher players get 10% of normal experience for killing Lich King creatures.
Level 85 or higher players get 10% of normal experience for killing Cataclysm creatures.

What does this mean for those that have Cataclysm and are leveling up new characters? This means that you will gain normal experience through to level 60 and will then need to move on to The Burning Crusade zones until you reach level 70 and Wrath of the Lich King zones until you reach level 80. Once you reach 80, it is expected that you will be continuing your leveling adventures in the new Cataclysm zones and dungeons. We have made this change so that players will continue to progress through the appropriate content for their level versus grinding on quick re spawns in a less ideal location.

This change will also affect hunter pets and their leveling rate if the player is at max level, however, this is an unintended change that we will be addressing in the future.



Pretty much forcing people to lvl in the new content is fail on an all new level imho. If I want to grind in northrend to 85, I should not be penalized for it.

well u have to buy the next expac to lvl up, but this forces you to enter the new content... I don't want blizzard telling me i have to move out of northrend if I dont want to deal with the large crowds in the new areas. It's flat out stupid.

I am waiting a few days at least. I want to be able to find mobs to kill for my quests.

My team has only just hit level 43 so im not to botherd at the minute.. i had a moment of weakness this morning where i nearly bought cata for my main account to level one of my 80 characters but then i talked myself out of it lol.

Hopefully by the time ive got through BC and then throgh WOTLK it will be all clear and not so many people leveling in cata... although i am still looking forward to an all goblin team lol

This doesn't work the other way around aswell does it? I hate leveling through burning crusade stuff and as soon as i hit 68 i move right onto WOLK zones.. i don't get 10% untill im at the appropriate level do i?

I don't believe so, no. You should be fine.

Well.. you don't need BC until you're 60th.
Nor WotLK until 70th.

It forces people to not run lag free heroics, from the previous expansion, at 5 heroics an hour... and competitive experience per hour for the first 2-3 levels. Instead they have to "enjoy" the new content, which aside from being vastly overcrowded would be preferable.

My current plan for money is
$40 Cataclysm and get my DK and warrior to 85
$30 2 month card
$60 Black Ops
$30 The Orange Box (Portal, Half Life 2 Episodes 1-2, Team Fortress 2)

Total: $160
the exact amount of money I plan to receive

I hope that I will be high enough to get guild rep with you guys.
