Heh I jumped on my main character who I recently Xferred to Blackrock, and in the midst of farming skins, I was bested by another level 85 probably geared for PVP hunter on the alliance realm. I saw him taking out people in the area before and tried to avoid him, seeing that he's got higher health than me, which usually means, PVP geared.

No problem, I simply invited a few of those he ganked into party and teamed up on him. We kept at it till more came, then we were outnumbered 7-3. Thats when I realized that in order to survive anything on this server, I need better gear! I know my toon, but I get killed too easily, which means I have crap for PVP gear. All well.

If you want to avoid PvP, once you've leveled up to max level...

You could have your toon sit in Shattrath or Dalaran.
Those are Sanctuary zones, where pvp is impossible.

Plus you can queue for battlegrounds from anywhere.
And the rate of honor accrual is twice what it used to be.
Still a while to get pvp gear, but not as bad as before.
AV weekend is coming up, you could conceivably have most of a full set of honor gear over the weekend.



This is approximate:
Fresh 85, quest greens/blues = 1
Full crafted pvp set = 2
Full honor gear pvp set = 4
Full vicious arena pvp set = 5

Your solo toon should be competitive with a full pvp geared toon, once you have full honor gear.
With a 5-box team in full honor gear, you should consistently take out three opponents in full Vicious even if they're working together... at least anytime they're in the open to be attacked... maybe not when they're in a bunker and running from you.

Also, once you have close to full honor gear...
Be sure to get Conquest gear (or the points for it) each week.
You can run 2's, and your MMR will eventually sink to the point where opponents are beatable.
You only need 8 wins a week (used to be 5, and hopefully that is reverted).
