Default Innovative Rift Feature

It is nice to see Rift innovate and offer something new; hopefully that pushes Blizzard to offer a better product too.

From the Rift 1.1 patch notes:

The Invasion Will be Televised!

We’ve heard you asking for it and now it’s here! Patch 1.1 brings the ability to capture video and upload it straight to YouTube from in-game! No more messing with third party programs, or wasting hours waiting for your videos to process – you can do it all from the RIFT interface.
Just follow these easy steps to get started:
  • Log into RIFT on the character you would like to use for your video
  • Hit “ESC” to open the Main Menu, go to “Settings” -> “Video” -> “Record Video."
  • Click the “Login” button and enter your YouTube credentials
It should look something like this:

Once you’re logged in, just type “/record” or hit “CTRL+Y” to start recording . You’ll see a little red icon by the mini-map to let you know you’re doin’ it right (mousing over the icon will let you see the name of the clip, and how long you’ve been recording).

YT_2.jpg

To stop recording, just type “/record” or “CTRL+Y” one more time and the red icon will change to blue to let you know that it’s being encoded.

When your video has been encoded, the blue icon will be replaced by a check mark, which you can click to name the clip and send it to your YouTube channel.

Whether it’s invasions, boss fights, or just your avatar struttin’ their stuff on the /dance floor, get out there and start filming your character’s adventures in Telara!

Also, we’d love to have you share your videos with us, so be sure to upload or link them to the RIFT page on Facebook, or tweet them to us (@RIFTGame) with the hashtag #RIFTVid – we’ll be reposting and retweeting some of our favorites.

We can’t wait to see your RIFT videos!

Holy crap this is really cool! I wonder what the terms or details are around this. Hopefully it isn't one of those things where RIFT makes money advertising (whereas the Youtube channel owner wouldn't). Plus, you can't customize the video or edit.

But still, very very cool!

Hot damn actually this is AWESOMELY cool.

I have RIFT btw, level 38 Cleric/Shaman/Druid, super healer tank.

The multiboxing potential seems really strong in RIFT as well.

According to their post, it is 720p.
And not that much of a strain on system resources, at least for a one-boxer.

I really like RIFT for 1 main thing: They have shown to be flexible and fast to make changes.

They have address account security problems FAST, they have added content/events 1 month after release, and the overall company appears to respond to the community extremely awesomely and be free to change the game around without taking half a year (like Blizzard).

Regardless of the state of RIFT now (which I believe to be very good!!) I think the game has a really bright future.

I've been semi-afk lately actually because I'm working on a RIFT site to test the waters of a project I'm doing
