Default Ideas for new team

Hi guys,

Looking for a bit of inspiration here. I've 4 boxed up a couple of sets now to mid sorta levels as was planning on using the existing high level characters on my main acct as the 5th once the 4 got higher. This is really causing me a lot of grief though - getting a tank or healer for LFD has been nothing but trouble with them leaving group, deliberately getting me killed, spending whole time asking me multi-boxing tips and not killing stuff, reporting me, etc.

So, I want to 5 box instead of 4 box and want all your opinions on comps.

I want to level the 5 together so this rules out anything with a DK in it. I'm thinking maybe bear tank and 4 rets, or pala tank and 4 ele's. Or with 3 warlocks and a priest? Or anything really. Thats what i need help with. Tell me about what you've tried and loved / hated and what's been really fun or unique or too hard or whatever.

Heres my 3 guidelines:
1) They need to be able to queue for LFD - ie I'd like to try bear tank and 4 hunters but LFD won't let me in. Main objective is to be able to solo heroics with them and maybe some old world raids.
2) I'm interested in group synergy, so prob wouldn't do a warrior tank with 3-4 mages for example because they don't do much for either other.
3) I don't think I'm ready for a mixed class team yet unless it's a lot easier than it looks?

But it is so entertaining to see you say "another one left" in chat

i think you can still do most dungeons with 4 but i'm not disagreeing with 5. picking the right team composition was the hardest part for me as a newbie 5-boxer ... maybe until now. i'd say pick 1 or two classes that you like most and start building your team from there. there are strong boxed compositions out there but not sure if you'll like each or some of them (as a class/solo).

Best 5 box team i ever had and enjoyed - 4 x ele sham + bear druid. Now I do not know how this will change in Cataclysm as they plan to make bear druids more rotational than they are now. I am sure pally tank would be interesting as well, i just haven't tried it.

The best synergy comes from pally tank, ele shammy, frost mage, priest (disc or holy), and boomkin

With the above group, you have practically everything you need. Mana regen through the mage, (almost) all buffs in game, DPS damage boost (totem of wrath, eclipse), portals to all cities which makes transportation a breeze especially if you want old world content, unlimited food and drink in case there is any down time, and just a fun experience overall.

i have to agree with janus, its the best group composition imo.

the most fun group composition i have played is 4 hunters + 1 priest, however you cannot do the LFD stuff with this

Thanks for the tips Janus.
I'm yet to try and box a multi classed team though. I don't know how I would set that up but I will try it.

Thanks guys.

Janus, i've not done a multiclass team and it daunts me a little - since all the classes spells would have different cast times / cooldowns, or is this easy to manage?

Hi,

It's pretty easy to manage. I will be addressing macros in the second Multiboxing 101 guide on my blog. I will dedicate a portion of it to my macros with my mixed team so you'll have an idea on how I do things. I'll report back here when the guide is published. Stay tuned (hoping by the end of the week )

Also, there will be another guide soon on how to setup your buttons so that it doesn't get too confusing/frustrating
