Default Having Justin.tv stream problems? POST HERE!

Hey guys,

If you're having Justin.tv stream problems, as in the stream is choppy, cuts out, pauses, or otherwise isn't going smooth for you, please immediately post this information to help us troubleshoot.
  • What your specific symptoms are (eg. video choppy, cuts out for 30sec, etc)
  • What connection and ISP do you have, and what speed. Important this is accurate.
  • Time and Date of occurance (Ex. 10/10/09 12:53pm CST)
  • What country you are from
  • Attach the file output from the following process below. Note: Feel free to remove the first 2 records of the traceroute, thereby hiding your IP address.

Do this and attach the file.

Code:
START->RUN->CMD
tracert justin.tv > trace.txt
That traceroute should sit there and do nothing, but its actually running for maybe 1-2 minutes or so in a black window, outputting its information to a text file, and when its done, it will create a trace.txt file. Attach that file.

It looks like when it is running...

Code:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Users\tim>tracert justin.tv > trace.txt
Keep it all in 1 cohesive post, and please do not post anything else in this thread. I will delete any other posts just so this thread has pure JTV feedback. Please do not respond to the feedback others post.

Thanks!

corrupt audio, low fps.
Quest, 6mbps down
10/12/09 4:30 PM CST
USA (Minnesota)

The Trace.txt file is saved in the folder that appears on every line in cmd. For example, when i typed in the command, it looked like
Quote:
C:\Users\Zach>tracert justin.tv > trace.txt
So the file's location is "C:\Users\Zach\trace.txt"
Attached Files
File Type: txt trace.txt (1.0 KB, 19 views)

Symptom: video choppy (hangs for about half a sec every 2 secs)
ISP: Charter
Connection Speeds: 8Mbps download, 1Mbps upload
Time and Date: 8/11/10 10:00pm CST)

File upload keeps failing so I'll just post what's in the txt file here:

Default Re: Having Justin.tv stream problems? POST HERE!

While I don't regularly have many issues with poor conncetions to justin.tv I thought tossing in some more advanced traceroute tests from my local gentoo Linux server might assist with some troubleshooting. The results were pretty interesting. I found a traceroute utility that is able to include autonomous system (AS) route assignments for major backbone routers. Surprisingly it seems the AS routes to both justin.tv and live.justin.tv are possibly screwed up somewhere because all tests with both the advanced and default traceroute tools fail to find the next hop at the same router.

I also found this very useful website called a "looking glass" that can so path lookups between major backbone routers which offered some interesting information that supports my assumptions that it's a major routing table issue. Lots of the major routers from that looking glass website fail traceroutes to justin.tv within ten hops. I tried Telus West (AS 852) and it dropped the route after two hops. Justin.tv's cisco admin been playing too much warcraft?
