Default A few questions for the more experienced

Hi,

I had a few questions for the community:

1) What to do on patch days?
- I have 5 different installations of wow in 5 different directories, that I play my team on and I left the original installation just in case I need torevert back to it. Now, I let the downloader download the patch in the original directory. Do i just copy the patch files with the blizzard updater into my 5 wow directories and let it update each one?

2) Is there an addon that would let you look at all quests in the zone in-game?
- I know that as an mboxer gathering quests are torture and I really wanna skip those. Is there an addon (like an in-game wowhead or something...) that lets me look at all quests in the zone and where to find the questgiver?

3) Has anyone had any problems with pwnboxer's mouse broadcasting? It doesn't seem to do what i expect it to do I have realtime turned on but whenever I attempt right-clicking (say a merchant or a flight master) on my master, my toons seem to be clicking something else... Is there some "calibration" that needs to be ran on the team ?

Thanks

3) Mouse broadcasting clicks the exact same spot in all open WoWs. Unless that vendor is in the exact same position in every window, it's not going to be clicked by your subordinate WoWs.

You should be able to just copy the patch to each install folder. I run off one copy, so not exactly sure.

Get Cartographer - there is an option to show all questgivers on the world map, I use it with Lightheaded to look up quests.

1) I patch my main, then copy any recently updated files manually to my slaves' directory.

2) No clue.

3) I use keybinds to set focus on my team and then Interact with Target instead of mouse broadcasting. Using the mouse requires that all your window height/width ratios match and your cameras are set exactly the same. I feel mouse broadcasting is good for the 2D aspects of the game (clicking on stuff in dialogs) or 3D aspects that don't require precise precision (like getting your AOE targetting 'close enough' to where you want it).

1) If you are using symbolic links or junction points, you'll want to break these first. If it is just multiple installs, don't worry about breaking links that aren't there. Patch the parent/original wow directory. Then copy the wow.exe and data folders to the copies of warcraft.

2) Lightheaded is probably the closest for an addon. But you can look up quests on wowhead or thottbot. In Cataclysm, they're bringing in an option to view every quest, as well as what stage your party is on, also even if you are "phased" differently, you should be able to still interact as a group.

3) Not a PB user, cannot help you there.

Can you tell me how to do that? I know there is a video on these forums on how to but I have 5 toons not 2 and I can't get it to work

Thanks

For interact to work, you need to set a keybinding for it within warcraft.
It is a protected function, so you cannot macro it or put it into a script.
If you go into keybinds, it is in the targeting section, approximately 15 mouse scroll wheel clicks down.

You will also need to enable, "Click to Move", in interface options, the mouse section.
You can macro this on and off.
The syntax is:
/console AutoInteract 1
/console AutoInteract 0
1 is on, and 0 is off.

Your main targets someone like a quest npc or flight master.

You press your assist key, for the slaves to target the main's target.

You press your IWT keybind, and your slaves will move to the target and open its menu option.
For example the screen to click on a quest or the destination at the flight master.

If you have the Jamba Addon, your slaves will mimic the masters selection for quests and flights. This includes dialogue options too.

If you target a hostile creature and click IWT, your team will run towards the target and attempt to melee it.

This is great for melee teams, and if you spam it, they will circle the target constantly. If you are spamming, and the target dies, the melee will sometimes run off in a random direction, so you'll need to be ready to break auto run with a movement key or be quick to enable follow.

For PvE, you might just click IWT once, and reclick periodically when you need to move your melee.

You can also use IWT for a caster team (or melee) which was feared. Have them target an enemy they were nuking, and IWT. They will all run towards the target to melee it. For casters, break follow with a backwards movement key once you get into casting range.

IWT has a range slightly further then 3x maximum follow distance.

If your boxing software supports "Steps", you can have Step 1 (keystroke 1) send IWT and Step 2 (keystroke 2) send your DPS key. IS Boxer can even be configured to send Step 1 on keystroke down, and Step 2 on keystroke up.

If you go this route, you won't want to always spam IWT, but with the AutoInteract console command, you can disable CTM, which prevents IWT from sending your toons running towards the target.
