You don't use the web-based broadcasting tool on JTV. FME will stream right to the site. And for the love of God... DONT STREAM AT 20 MBPS.

Thanks for the guide to set up streaming, I just have a few questions regarding audio. I went through about 30ish pages of the thread and saw people asking my question but their solutions proved to not be helpful for me specifically. You see right now I have a speaker system hooked into a soundcard for my PC and I also run a USB headset with mic attached. When I want sound to go to the headset I simply disable my speakers in the volume control. The attached microphone is always on and always working. Now, when i go to try and stream something such as EvE online or World of warcraft, my xml file is set to pick up my headset audo. This makes it so that my microphone is working and you are able to hear through the stream me typing and chatting with absolutely no problem. However, this does not allow me to pick up the actual in game sounds or anything playing off of my PC (like music). I cannot turn up my speakers to a volume that is able to be picked up by the recording without seriously pissing off my roommate/neighbors so just feeding it through the mic will not work. In an effort to try and get game sound working via the stream I tried giving up my microphone abilities to see if that was possible at all. When I adjusted the .xml file to play through my speakers instead, absolutely no audio was picked up by the stream. From what I understand, I need to enable the stereo mixer option in my volume settings but i do not have that option available. One of the individuals in this thread mentioned updating audio drivers (which I have) and another mentioned downloading something from Realtek. The problem is that my audio software is from soundblaster (as in soundcard and headphones) and their programs are used to monitor and control everything and I have been unable to find anything that will give me the stereo mixer option. Does anyone have any solutions for this or other things I could try? I find the in game sound to be extremely important when watching a stream :-/ Thanks alot!

I have a similar problem, although I do have Stereo Mix listed as a recording device. Now the problem is that I use Realtek Digital Output as my playback device, and there doesn't seem to be a way for FME to record audio from that device. As a side note, Livestream Procaster does allow recording from "Speakers' Audio", so it is technically possible. :[ Has anyone run into this, and possible solved it?

For the sound recording while streaming, or anytime for that matter, I use a program called Virtual Audio Cable. It creates multiple sound channels, "cables", that you can redirect to anywhere you want. So you can VERY easily take sound from multiple sources and output them to where you want. I use it to take WoW audio and streamed music audio output to the JTV stream while keeping my Vent / Mummble audio separated so it is not heard through the stream. It does cost but for what I use it for it was worth the cost. There is a bit of a learning curve to how to use it effectively.

Hey, if my upload from speedtest.net says its at 0.97 Mb/s what would be the optimal total bitrate to use for video/audio? As well as resolution.

I tried streaming just now, everything was alright except that it was lagging, i know it was frame lag because no matter what bit rate i put it at it still lagged and in my encoding log in FME 2.5 it shows frames at 5, I have VHScrCap frame at 29.97 and fme at 29.97

Hey, I just read the tutorial and got everything working just fine. I am able to stream but there are 2 problems. First problem, the frame rate for the stream is really low. I have FMLE and VHScrCap both set to 30 fps, but the command console says I'm outputting at like 5 frames. I also viewed my previous recordings on my channel (just little test things of me browsing the internet and listening to music) and it was playing really really really fast. Like a 5 minute recording is shortened to like 30 seconds and the sound and my voice gets all "chipmunked". I have Stereo Mix set. The second problem is although I'm able to stream normal internet browser stuff without any performance problems, when I try to play Starcraft II the game slows down immensely, to the point of unplayability. I also don't really know what my bitrate should be. I did a speed test and got like over 5 mbps upload speed, but everything from 1000 to 2500 still slows the game down. Edit: I did a test with a friend watching the stream live, and he said it was doing the 2x fast thing live as well as the previous videos. And I'm still lagging terribly when I play a game. Here's a link to what it's doing: http://www.justin.tv/wakkjon/b/269016819 The password is testing Last edited by wakkjon; 08-26-2010 at 06:31 PM.

I too am having frame rate problems. My frame rate increases whenever I move my mouse to 30-50 but stays on 3 fps when using my MotionJoy controller. However, even though it says it's at 30+ fps, the stream quality is no different than 3 fps. My upload rate is 7.9mb/s while my download is 19.9mb/s. I set my datarate to 1500-3000 to test but my fps doesn't change. I have an i7 920. My output is 720x360. Does anyone know how to fix this? What would be the best datarate to set for my connection?

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have a problem though, when I stream a game in fullscreen, it does not display on my screen, even though it's the same monitor chosen. Why is that? Would really like to go fullscreen! Last edited by roxodon; 08-29-2010 at 07:15 PM.

| This is an issue with VHScrCap and how Windows deals with fullscreen-games. You'll have to play in Windowed-mode to be able to capture it.
