I switched to the phone-based authentication system a few months back (the one that calls if you log in from a different IP). I'm generally very careful about system security, and these days 99% of my browsing is done in a virtual machine anyway. Otherwise, I'm using Firefox with noscript and adblock running. After Blizzard changed the authenticator so that you had to enter it separately for each login, I was glad to switch to the phone-based system. I only ever play from home anyway, and it meant that I could go back to the fast login where I enter one password for the five clients. I don't like to skimp on security (I'm not one of those people who thinks it can never happen to me) but there's a point at which the inconvenience outweighs the security.

The phone base system isn't as secure as it should be. Hopefully over time it becomes more secure and reliable. There have been a few dozen boxers, who have had account security issues after switching to the phone system. I'd imagine if you were smart, did not click links within emails whose headers show they're not from Blizzard, did not use your B.Net email as an email address for anything else, did not visit gold sites or the like... etc. Then even without any form of authenticator, you'd be fine. I lucked out and have five accounts on five different B.Net addresses, with a single authenticator tied to all five. So I do one authenticator code, for all five at once. When my authenticator eventually dies, I'll likely also move to the phone based authentication. In the mean time, I lose out on a few features like account-bound items across every account on the B.Net account.

Ahh thats how I've seen videos where this guy enters his authenticator for all 5 accounts and logs in at once! I tried that and had to do it manually again cause the last 4 accounts came up with the "Wrong Code" error.

If the warcraft accounts are on the same B.Net, then you need to enter the codes sequentially (one at a time). Also if you have one warcraft per B.Net account, you cannot attach an authenticator to each B.Net account any more. Which means, you can enter simultaneously if you want, but need to get a code from each authenticator. So it would be easier to do them sequentially, with the advantage of not needing to wait 30sec between each code and the disadvantage of having five devices which need to be ordered so you know which corresponds with each warcraft.

Also don't browse Wowhead anymore. The current owners could care less about the site, only about making the most $$. As a result, Wowhead has a pretty well established history of letting advertising onboard that have trojans that will infect your PC. Just google it up, it is well know. Now that I think about it, it probably is the best way for a keylogging gold farmer to make the most $$ - advertise on wowhead. Sad I know.

I use Chrome, and I have AdBlock on, and when I do surf to wowhead, I get no ads but I get the images that come up when the ads are blocked saying "these ads support wowhead directly, blah blah blah" but I hear what Tim is saying, those ads are linked to trojans, hacking sites, and gold farmers who will clean out your account. Don't trust 3rd party sites claiming to improve your wow with the sale of gold, gear, mounts, etc... You will get hacked!
