Default Comcast strikes again

Okay so the past 2 weeks I have noticed that Comcast is once again flagging my traffic as QoS drop-able, and in the middle of my streams, suddenly my bandwidth goes from 20,000kbps down to 180kbps, and since my stream requires 2,500 - 5,000kbps, we pretty much go offline.

Anybody else use Comcast and see this?

I'm building a system that will push 100% 2MB/sec 24/7/365 and will monitor any time it drops below a certain threshold. I'm going to track how often Comcast is slowing down my connection.

Grr I hate them.

Okay I just set up a network monitoring system. Right now I'm pushing 15MB/sec upload on the Comcast business connect (its $450/mo roughly) and I'm doing full monitoring of it. If it drops at any time, I will get an email notification.

The server it is uploading to is one of my servers in Dallas that has 1000mbit/sec to the Internet, a perfect network connection to test on.

EAT IT COMCAST

This will give me proof that Comcast is constantly throttling me.

comcast probably flagged your connection as "using too much bandwidth" so they intentionally throttled you. comcast got some heat for doing this to torrent users awhile ago, some who were just downloading linux distros or so they say.

I would probably call them and ask them why your connection is being throttled, especially if you have a business account. and if they give you some BS to reset modem, or check for viruses, ask to speak to someone who is not an idiot (higher tier, someone like the network tech).

also make sure no one is using your connection (stealing), I was getting a ****ty connection and realized my router was broadcasting a wireless signal with no pass =/
and someone in my neighborhood was using my connection

here is a nice read of people getting throttled and or capped for each month. also some users who just got kicked off the comcast internet for "abusing" the download/upload limit.

I had a server setup at a friends apartment in north PA w/ a seperate comcast line dedicated to the server solely for legal torrent distro seeding and they throttled the **** out of that bitch...welcome to comcast, where you can pay for ridiculous amounts of internet, but you are NOT allowed to use said internet.

In Pittsburgh your connection used to die if you started a P2P transfer. Doesn't anymore but for about a year and half we couldn't torrent anything.
