| Since i started playing WoW again (pre 4.0.6) I leveled up a new shaman team and a mage, Iam mainly a pvper so i can be found in arenas and mostly battlegrounds now what i have noticed that cataclysm has different from any of the other expansions is that there are a TON of botters in battlegrounds not only do most of them do nothing but follow a friendly target but it is making the battlegrounds and game less fun overall. Can or will blizzard do anything about this? I have tried to report KNOWN and very frequent botters(one that broadcasts on JTV that talks about it with his friends and even to the viewers) but for months he has continued to BOT and nothing at all has happend. Type of botters: 1: The most player like bot is from what i know called pirox and this one has predetermined paths that it will follow in a battleground as well as taking advantage of the click to move and interact with target features to actually attack the enemy, very easy to spot because they will do hard keyboard turns and can be found running into walls trying to get to another path or player. 2: the follow script bot, this one from what i know uses a program that will que battlegrounds mount up and spam follow onto a friendly player, this bot does not attack at all and does not use any fancy scripting or way to reduce the chance of Wardon picking it up but still does not get banned? Can blizzard really do anything about this? Will blizzard do anything about this botting problem? As more and more people get frustrated with people constantly botting in battlegrounds and not getting banned ( why there is so many people botting right now) more and more people will start to bot to avoid the honor grind. |

| You could run a macro, a minute into the BG, which reports everyone as AFK. By that time, the gates are open or the opposing sides are close to engaging, so anyone not AFK will not be inconvenienced. The problem on Blizzards end, is Bots pay their monthly fees too. Battlegrounds are an honor grind, they're not really that fun for the majority of the player base. Besides reporting the players AFK, there's not a lot you can do. The first type gets in combat with opposing players, so is not totally useless but will evade the reporting fairly often. The second type, will be kicked out because of inactivity. Warden tracks what programs people use. Blizzard traditionally does mass banning, every 3 months or so. So someone might be flagged to be banned for botting, but have no action taken against their account for quite some time. But if they were caught botting, they're going to be banned eventually. |
