As much as I'd love to box Guild Wars 2, I don't think the game design will lend itself to it very well.

As far as free boxable MMOs go, I think that LotRO is a cut above the rest.

Lacking anything to the contrary, I'd assume it would be a similar state with the new one too.
But that's not to say the game won't have a full blown macroing set of tools.

I'd still say, depending on your goals...
Eve Online, Lord of the Rings Online or Everquest II are likely the best "free" choices.
Guild Wars had an auto-follow system where the characters would stop following when they stopped moving.

Guild Wars 2 doesn't have any form of auto-follow yet with any of the Beta events they've had up to date as of the last Beta Weekend Event that ended last Sunday, June 10th. ArenaNet has not denied nor confirmed if auto-follow will be in the game when it's released. Without auto-follow, the game is hard to multibox. It can be done, but the characters have to be adjusted in direction in all screens every so often while moving.

Personally, at the very least... Follow...
That would make or break a game, for boxing.

Without a Follow command, it would certainly be doable but likely not that enjoyable.

A decent macro system is a huge bonus too.
If you can assist, and I'd imagine any game with a PvE raid progression would allow this...
That's the other thing necessary for boxing -- having everyone on the same target.

Follow is really the key here for sure. I think what we need is a big study of multiboxing from a business perspective. I'd say revenue potential vs realized vs customer impact. If a study was positive and said something such as XYZ company could average X% additional sales by supporting multiboxing, then maybe more companies would support it?

Boxers are a very small percentage of the total player base.
Some like them, and others don't.

I'm sure it does add to overall revenue.
While many complain, I doubt many actually quit a game because a boxer killed them in pvp.
Even if they say they will.

Also to note, even if boxers only contribute an additional 2-3% of a games subscription base, that 2-3% could very well amount to 20%-30%+ of a games margins. A lot of the overhead of a game is the up front development and marketing costs.

I think a study would be really interesting to see, and I think a game developer could really use the information.
