Default Avast and world of warcraft

After a recent update, users of Avast anti-virus software may be experiencing problems logging in. This is caused by a false positive which is flagging World of Warcraft cache files as malicious.

Work around that work'd for me.

open Avest then click on Real-time shields.

Next click on Expert settings.

A new window should pop up now click on Exclusions.

Now inside a empty box you will need to type in.

C:\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\Cache\*

and in another empty box you will need to type.

.auth

And make sure that all 3 boxes next to them are all tick'd.

Like so ( things you need to write are underlined in Red )

And wow should run as normal, Hope this helps Avast.5 users

Love Sinji / Jorm ( depending on what website you read this on ).

is there a reason for two rules? can't you just click the browse button and select the folder (blizz programdata folder) and make sure all 3 boxes are checked and that's it?

BTW thanks for the pics and info, I seen this on the wow forums tech section, but was a little different then your instructions, hence the questions :P

The problem from what i can tell is Avast thinks the cache files are malicious so aslong as you click browse go to Program Data and then make sure you have a tick in next to blizzard entertainment then it should be sorted.

the .auth is because it was also trying to block the pop up for an authenticator in my case
