I'm still game. I played D&D back in the day like a madman, as well as AD&D back when THAC0 first was introduced. It has been maybe 15+ years tho, but I'm totally down.

We could do it where we have multiple people skype into me, and I put us all on screen, and then the web/program D&D thing, and then stream it all?

It would probably be best if you had someone Ventrilo/Skype with you, to help make a character. Not sure what level we would start at, most of the time it would be 1st, but that really depends on the adventure and what not.

Once you have a character, and a basic build, built around a concept you like, shouldn't take too long to do... then the mechanics of play are relatively simple.

In this edition, you have some At-Will powers, which you can use whenver you want. Also some Encounter powers, which are stronger and available every fight/encounter. Then some bigger powers (Dailies) which are used each day. In general, you'll do 2-3 encounters in a given day, but that can vary.

On your turn, you have a Standard Action, Move Action and Minor Action. The Standard is the main one, and most often you'll Move too. The actions are more for during Combat. Outside of combat, most of the play is free-form. You have different skills, based on your race and class. A skill is basically (like an attack) 1D20 (one twenty sided die), plus bonuses against a difficulty number which varies based on what you are trying to do.

Compared to previous editions, the game is very simple to learn. Everything is additive, nothing like the old THAC0 tables for 2nd edition, so a bigger number is better... and bonuses all add up, along with your die roll.

Tim, I'm thinking we all skype conference, connect our Gametables and you can stream your table. It's literally just a gridded map with little tokens to mark where we are. I'd say work it out to where you're only showing the map and the Gametable chat so we can show our rolls and other chat related items. The rest is just menus and options that are meaningless to the viewers.

As for character creation. I'd like to do a short mini-dungeon with a first draft of the characters, then after that allow everyone the chance to redo their characters more to their liking. It also lets new players get a grasp of how things will work without permanent consequences. And yea, level 1 to start.

Also, I would like to do 4th simply because it is simpler and easier to run for the purposes of streaming it and running it without being in person.

What if we did a private stream first on how to set up the game table, how it works, etc?

Also I rather we start the traditional way, level 1, with our characters. I just wouldn't feel connected if I somehow started level 4 or something.

When you say 4th, you mean AD&D ruleset right?

When I say 4th, I mean 4th Edition AD&D. And I'd be fine with a prvate stream to set it up (could be fun as a public stream too). And Tim, are you going to be able to dedicate the time? This is an every week, same bat-time same bat-channel type of thing. I know how much you have on your plate right now.

I would be willing to par take in this. My only free nights are Sat. Tues. and/or Wed. 8:30 pm est would be fine.

I haven't played in so long I would basically be a no0b as well. I'll read over some stuff though.

*edit.. Would we create characters together or before we meet to play? Using the gametable thing, or pencil and paper character sheets? I havnt checked out the gametable thing yet. sorry.

You'll be keeping your own character sheets. Gametable doesnt have that function.

We seem to be all across the board on times. While I can work with them, most of them can't work with each other.

The most likely candidate is Wednesday night starting at 8-9pm EST.

I like where this is going, I am also very capeable of hosting the stream and such events.

But before we go anywhere, i think we would need to decide first if were playing 3.5 or 4th. And then whos going to be DMing before making any more steps. And like I said, I might be game to DM 3.5 if its 3.5 but I don't think I'm familiar enough with 4th to run a game.

And I'm with LL it looks like Wednesday night 8-9pm est
