Default 1 Rogue + 1 Priest, help needed

I'm having trouble with this combo as the priest needs to stay out of the fray, and it needs to be able to target the people in the instance group easily.

Any ideas? How do other people handle this kind of combo?

Thanks

I take it nobody plays this kind of combo?

If your rogue is combat, you could spam (or selectively press) your Interact With Target, while spamming whatever you castsequence is for DPS. Then drive with the priest, who stays back a bit and heals as needed.

Alternatively, drive the rogue, break follow with the priest and DPS away. Then when you need heals, you can either assist the mob and heal its target... or you can broadcast your mouse clicks and use something like Healbot, Vuhdo or Grid (fixed or alphabetical sort) to heal others as needed. A repeater region is perfect for this with Isboxer, but you could likely have a clickable button (dockable clickmaps?) for each member of your team with Pwnboxer.

wow, I must really not have any idea what i'm doing because that's making no sense to me, heh.

Right now i'm trying to DPS with the rogue but the priest is barely perhaps 10% functional. I have the f-key row set to heal each party member in turn and try to hit that when I see someone getting hurt. Which limits me to greater heal only.

I've never been able to broadcast mouse actions or clicks, it screws up the layout of my wow windows.

Interact With Target, is a keybind found within Targeting Functions. When you press it, it causes your toon to run up to the target. If you spam it, your toon will run about like a chicken with its head cut off, which can be a good thing in PvP situations. In PvE you generally don't need to spam it, but you will against a moving PvP target.

If you go with this route, you'll probably want to have two IWT keybinds. One in which only the rogue has bound, and one for both of your characters. So you can send only the rogue into combat, or have both toons move towards a quest giver.

The priest could use:

/assist [target=Rogue'sName]
/cast [help][help, Target=TargetTarget][help, Target=TargetTargetTarget] Healing Type Spell.

This would have the priest attempt to heal the Rogue's target. And if the first condition was true, ie and friendly target, then the heal would land. But if the first condition was false, then it would attempt to heal the Rogue's Target's Target, assuming that was a friendly. Most of the time it would be whichever of your toons was taking damage, but sometimes might be the tank type you have grouped up with for an instance run.

Mouse broadcasting is a good method of healing, assuming you use something like Healbot which has every character in the party listed, in the same order on every screen (ie, top window is the same toon for everyone).

You can then configure it, so when you left click the box it is Flash Heal, but when the box is right clicked it might be Penance. And have another for Power Word: Shield, and maybe Renew as well. You can have keybinds for key stuff like Pain Suppression, which assists off of the current target, as the heal from above.

You don't need to mouse broadcast to heal, but it is probably the strongest system of healing, with even a little practice.

Pwnboxer lets you set up buttons, which when clicked run the equivalent of macros. So you could have three buttons near each party member's frame. Or pick a number. The button might be:

/cast [target=Party3] Flash Heal
