Really, a machine or creature which you take control of, is just a vehicle to scale things differently.

In a typical boss encounter, you might have a tank with 40k health, healers who heal for 20k, and a mob which hits for 10-30k.

In a vehicle situation, the tank will have 4000k health, you can repair the vehicle for 2000k, and the mob hits for 1000-3000k.

It's just bigger numbers.

I would prefer a "spell" cast on the raid, or an elixir taken, whatever, where we are temporarily more powerful, and able to compete on this scale as our own class.

Whether you pilot/shoot from a vehicle, or are given enhanced powers (battle for undercity, for example), your character is a demi-god for the encounter. I'd rather have my own abilities for any encounter, rather then four buttons which have nothing to do with my class.

It is a preference thing, I suppose. It gives a change of pace, and can be neat. Some like it and some do not; I'm in the latter group.

i like vehicles when they are used in certain situations. for example using the harpoon to set destroy buildings(or set them on fire) in howling fjord just adds flavor to the game. But when your party does not get credit for the kills when using a vehicle or you have to leave your party when using the vehicle (icecrown I am looking at you) it just makes it a very tedious encounter, especially for us multi-boxers.

but like I said earlier, you either like healing or you don't. nothing will change that, at least in my mind nothing will.
