| My first and best character has always been my hunter. I have several characters with complete sets of BG purples, including a mage and a hunter. I prefer using the hunter because he is just as fast and it saves on repair bills. When I boost a team with my hunter I do the following: 1. I hide my lowbie slave toons in a safe place behind me (Night Elves are perfect because they can stealth with their racial ability called Shadowmeld) 2. I use EYES OF THE BEAST to gather as many mobs as I can before it runs out (this saves on repair bills for my main) 3. When it runs out, PUT PET ON PASSIVE so he comes running back to me with all of his new friends (angry mobs) 4. I drop a TRAP while I watch them approach on the minimap radar (if the mobs use stun or other slowing effects I use a frost trap, otherwise I use an explosive trap). 5. I lay down a VOLLEY in front of them as the mobs approach. 6. Continue VOLLEY until all mobs are tagged. 7. Once all the mobs are tagged, or sooner if things seem to be going bad (which seldom happens), I PUT PET ON AGRESSIVE 8. I hit BEASTIAL WRATH. 9. I continue with VOLLEY until all mobs are dead. Keeping your slave toons safe is an important part of boosting. Corpse runs are a huge waste of time. When I run Stockades, I keep my slaves on the stairs the whole time. In five pulls with my pet I can drag every mob in the instance. Once Stockades is cleared, I sometimes sit on the steps and wait for it to respawn. This keeps me from getting locked out for running it too often in an hour, and it gives me a chance to take a short break to do personal business. If I walk away from the computer while I wait for it to respawn, then I leave my pet on Agressive. It also seems that my toons get better xp from the repops than from the first run of the instance. It might simply be that these mobs die quicker without named mobs in the group. When I run SM Cathedral I keep my slaves in the tunnel right next to the door to pull everything outside of the Cathedral. Then, I take them to the walkway with all the poles on either the right or the left of the cathedral when I go in for the last big pull. When I run Strat, I keep my slaves in the tunnel near the door at first, then I keep them at least one room away from the action most of the time. There are a couple of places where adds will spawn and walk by, so Strat can sometimes be tough to keep the slave toons alive. Last edited by eqdude; 12-22-2009 at 08:42 AM. |
