Druid Macros

Let's talk about the macros I'm using on my druids.

Macro limits (without addons)
  • 18 global macros
  • 18 character-specific macros
  • 255 characters per macro
Global Macros
  1. Focus (set focus in party order, checking for not dead, exists; if all else fails, target leader as a fall through)
  2. Follow (follow and various 'accept' script calls to automate group invites, quest sharing, trading, release spirit, retrieve corpse)
  3. AssistAtt (assist focus and start attack)
  4. Rejuv1 (target = RabidBear)
  5. Rejuv2 (target = RabidCheetah)
  6. Rejuv3 (target = RabidGrizzly)
  7. Rejuv4 (target = RabidHawk)
  8. Rejuv5 (target = RabidRaven)
  9. RejuvSelf (target = player)
  10. Regrow1 (target = RabidBear)
  11. Regrow2 (target = RabidCheetah)
  12. Regrow3 (target = RabidGrizzly)
  13. Regrow4 (target = RabidHawk)
  14. Regrow5 (target = RabidRaven)
  15. RegrowSelf (target = player)
  16. <empty>
  17. <empty>
  18. <empty>
Character-specific Macros
  1. Abolish Disease (target = focustarget)
  2. Remove Curse (target = focustarget)
  3. MotW (target = focustarget)
  4. MotW Self (target = self)
  5. Thorns (target = focustarget)
  6. Thorns Self (target = player)
  7. Entangle (rotating castsequence so that only 1 druid is casting at a time)
  8. Soothe Animal (rotating castsequence so that only 1 druid is casting at a time)
  9. DPS (for slaves - castsequence with wrath and starfire)
  10. <empty>
  11. <empty>
  12. <empty>
  13. <empty>
  14. <empty>
  15. <empty>
  16. <empty>
  17. <empty>
  18. <empty>

Now, given all those macros, let me explain a couple things.
  • I use a G11 keyboard. This keyboard has 18 keys on the left side (G-keys) that can be mapped to keystrokes.
  • G1 - G6 is mapped to Regrow1 - 5 + RegrowSelf. This gives me single-button heals for the entire party or to have everyone heal themselves.
  • G7 - G12 is mapped to Rejuv1 - 5 + RejuvSelf. Same logic as Regrow macros.
  • Abolish Disease and Remove Curse can be cast by simply having my main target something (himself) and then everyone will cast on that target. I haven't really used this much yet and may change this to a /targetparty style macro (to rotate the target around the entire party and then mash the macro button - that way everyone gets cleansed without me targetting).
  • Mark of the Wild and Thorns are mostly used with the 'self' version to make buffing as simple as 2 keypresses. I could probably switch this to a single /castsequence macro to save a macro slot.
  • DPS macro - well, this is my default DPS macro. This will evolve later as I get higher level and gain more abilities. Before level 30, this is really pretty simple.
  • Entangle and Soothe Animal use a castsequence to prevent multiple toons from casting it at the same time. That way I can rotate the casting around, rooting multiple targets and/or stretching out the total duration of roots through chaining.

I'm also attaching the macro-cache.txt files (one for global and one for char-specific) in case anyone wants to see them.

I welcome any comments and/or suggestions for improvements to these. At the time these were written, my druids were level 26.
