Howster is back with another video, this time tackling the yet-to-be multiboxing elusive Icecrown Citadel. Our first video covers Marrowgar!

A quote on his strategy for multiboxing ICC Marrowgar:

All dps and healers gets behind marrowgar and dps/heal like they should.. If they are too far back they get hit by the fire on the ground, so just a little closer than that. Once a while Marrowgar will target a random raid memeber and cast a bonespike on him. When he did this I target that bone spike with a macro and kill it.

After a while he starts to whirlwind on random raid members, meanwhile he also cast this fire things on the ground (in this video i tried to avoid the fire, but we found it easier to just stand still and just heal through it. I use my 3 shamans to chain heal when this happens and my druid healing the way he should). After the whirlwind its back to start with the bone spikes again..

We have managed to get all 5 bosses down, all the way to Rotface… Rotface is a pain to get but soooooon we will get him down (i hope).

For now i only have Lord Marrowgar frapped, so enjoy this video. More will come soon once i frapped it

“Awesome Rogue level 45, looking for guild that is interested in leveling, raiding, PVP, and Multiboxing”

Wait… a Multiboxing guild?

If you haven’t heard already, Blackrock (US – Horde) has a guild <BUT MOM IM MULTIBOXING> which is very active and very much a Multiboxing friendly guild (and solo play friendly of course)! The guild has been around for around a year and has seen literally hundreds of multiboxers, brand new to the whole scene, start new teams, ask questions, and learn everything there is to know.

Right now the guild has dozens of Druids logged in often at any time, lots of Shamans, Mages, Priests, Hunters, you name it. As of writing this post there are 21 Druids across 5 teams logged in right now.

To sum it up:

Server: Blackrock

Faction: Horde

Guild Leader: Timboxa

Multiboxing Friendly?: YES!

Soloplay Friendly?: YES!

How to apply?: Just send Timboxa a PM in-game, or PM Lsta, or Pawslavea, or Byriaan, or Stompera. Any multiboxer is welcome to join. Just create (or transfer) your team and say hello in a PM. Alternatively you can do a “/who but mom im” and ask a few people for a ginvite!

Note: The guild has a guild bank that allows a new multiboxer the ability to withdraw some funds to help start their new team

Our very own Ebony has released an amazing video of what it is like to Pwn Alterac Valley with 5x Warlocks. She said that some of the wins are giving her 100,000 XP and primarily is being used as a method to level up to 70 and beyond.

The strategy looks to be ginormously fun. I’ll summarize it for you:

Step #1 - Run towards enemy

Step #2 - Apply 592 million DOTs

Step #3 - Run towards next enemy

Note: In the event you should run into a large number of enemies, simply bust out 5 Infernals, and dominate them all.

Caution: The video you are about to see is going to make you extremely jealous of a multiboxer!

Hey all,

Just a heads up that I am yet again starting a new team, and this time I plan on sticking to it!

3pm CST tonight @ Multiboxing in World of Warcraft on Justin.tv

The goal is to create a 5 man druid team and roll them all the way into Cataclysm and have a blast.

The team should be great at PVE w/heroics with 1x Druid tanking, and 4x Druids DPSing/Healing.

The team should also be a blast at Battlegrounds/PVP due to massive amounts of starfire/moonfires/STARFALL and overall sneaking up on people in kitty form stealth and going boom boom on them.

A note: My first level 80 team was in fact boomkins, and my first team I created while developing Pwnboxer was actually a level 70 team (BC) of Boomkins. Overall they have always been my favorite to play so I’m really looking forward to this!

Our very own Kiyas created a video of multiboxing the Midsummer event and had this to say about it:

Ahune The Frost Lord as you will all know is summoned in Slave Pens during the Midsummer Fire Festival.

Initially this boss took me four attempts to figure it out but after that normally I do it first attempt daily for the two emblems of frost and hoping to get the Ice Chip – Item – World of Warcraft for my Palidin… It can get a bit hectic on this fight the way I do it but thankfully I got a good tank some awesome dps and a really good Priest healer.

Firstly I set up my group near where the boss spawns seperated enough so that when the boss casts the frost spikes it will only hit one of them.

I make sure I got frost totem up and frost resistance up on my palidin and go activate it.

As the boss spawns I normally turn my dps on him and wait for the first large stone add to pop kinda pointless due to Ahune’s Shield – Spell – World of Warcraft but oh well lol.

I then soon as the large stone Elemental pops concentrate all on that untill its down then run round trying to gather all the small adds untill Ahune turns into the Frozen core which can be damaged normaly.

At this point i run round gathering all my other characters to bring em into range and pop all my cooldowns in order to try beat the boss respawn and ignoring all the small adds hoping that consecration will grab them all lol!

After over a week of gameplay and preparation, the 4x Paladin 1x Death Knight team has finally come together in Ramparts. This new multiboxing team brings together a lot of potential on paper. One such potential is Divine Storm.

Massive self healing through multiboxing the Divine Storm Skill:

On paper it would seem that it is quite possible to run instances, even heroics, without having to heal the tank of the group (bosses not counted) simply by having 4x Retribution Paladins using the Divine Storm skill. When fully glyphed, this skill will heal your party members for 40% of the damage done. Multiple this by 4 and you can get some really intense healing. For example, if you watch this video below closely, you will see 1 “volley” of Divine Storm is healing my tank for sometimes in excess of 3000.

Here is the first of hopefully man videos showing the potential power of multiboxing Paladins with a Death Knight tank.

For the first time we are going to do a general Pwnboxer Q+A to get everybody involved on where Pwnboxer is at in general, as well as some ideas you might have, or requests, for features.

Saturday 06/26/10 @ 3pm CST @ http://justin.tv/multiboxing

Bring any suggestions you have, bugs you encounter, and general thoughts about Pwnboxer to the stream. No matter how crazy your idea is, I’d love to hear it.

The reason for this chat is that Pwnboxer, to me personally, has reached a state where I find it absolutely perfect for my every day multiboxing needs. However, I just one person out of many, and Pwnboxer really is about the general multiboxing community as a whole, so having YOUR feedback on how Pwnboxer is for you is of utmost importance.

Everybody is welcome, including those who use Pwnboxer, those who do not, and everybody in between.

Update: This has been rescheduled to 06/26/10 !

There have been many new additions to Patch 13 including the map publishing feature, but as with previous Situation Reports, we wanted to take some time to go into some of the balance changes in particular and explain a bit more about them.

In this patch we are looking to address several balance issues that the community has discovered over the last few weeks. We are also addressing some of the zerg units and abilities that don’t see a lot of use in competitive games. These changes are big enough that we think it’s likely there will be further balance changes to these units as we learn more about how they are playing in the game.

Sentry Force Fields – Force Fields can now be destroyed by Massive ground units walking over them.

We are seeing a lot of great games that rely on Force Field as a key part of protoss strategy. The ability is fun, but we do want to create some more options for enemy players to deal with Force Fields to create some additional gameplay choices in a fight against the protoss. Now Massive units (Thor, Colossus, Ultralisk) will smash a Force Field if they are told to move through them. Ultralisks can use this ability to lead a Zerg charge onto a protoss position while protoss players can use their Colossus in an emergency to allow their army to attack or retreat.

Ultralisk – Life decreased from 600 to 450. Damage changed from 25 to 15 (+25 Armored). Damage versus structures increased from 60 to 75.

We have put in a large number of buffs to the Ultralisk to allow him to close the gap on his enemies. The Ultralisk can now ignore Force Fields and with the Infestor’s Frenzy ability he can ignore all of the ways that the enemy could disable him. With all of these buffs the Ultralisk needed to be rebalanced. We are focusing him more as an anti-armored unit since zerg players already have a few ways to deal with mass light units (Banelings and Fungal Growth). This Ultralisk should be able to deal with both mass Marauders and mass Roaches which are a common threat to zerg players in some end game scenarios.

Infestor – Infested Terrans spell removed. Frenzy spell added: Costs 25 energy – Targets a single biological unit which deals 25% more damage and is immune to snare, stuns, and mind control for 30 seconds.

We are cutting Infested Terrans since the ability rarely saw use. We have buffed this ability in internal testing and were unable to find a place in which we were happy with it on the Infestor. We are introducing a new ability called “Frenzy” that is especially useful for the short range zerg to get close up to the enemy to do some real damage. Frenzy should be especially helpful on Ultralisks who are trying to get past Thor Strike Cannons, Fungal Growth, or Neural Parasite.

Overseer – Contaminate spell added: Costs 75 energy – Targets a single enemy structure which cannot train units or research upgrades for 30 seconds. Infested Terran spell added: Costs 125 energy – Infested Terrans have the same stats as those previously created by the Infestor and are placed directly under the Overseer when spawned.

The Overseer is designed as a harassment caster. We don’t want to see hundreds of Overseers flying around, but we do like the ability for the zerg to annoy and harass the enemy with spells like Changeling. We added two abilities on the Overseer that were recently removed from other more “combat oriented” units. We expect that player’s will still build 1-2 Overseers to watch the enemy base and provide detection support for your force, but now you can also use the Overseer’s energy to disrupt enemy production and research, or to make small drops that force the enemy to spread their forces.

Void Rays – Range decreased from 7 to 6.

Void Rays are being used aggressively against terrans now, using their range and speed to trap a terran player in their base. This is pretty fun for the protoss player but at a variety of skill levels it is too difficult for the terran player to stop, even if the player sees it coming with good scouting. We think a slight range reduction will help with this match-up without doing too much damage to other matchups.

Terran Upgrades – Marine – Stimpack research cost decreased from 150/150 to 100/100. Combat Shield research cost decreased from 150/150 to 100/100.

We still believe that the terrans are spending too much on infrastructure and are struggling to compete at certain times in the game against the protoss. Reducing the cost of essential infantry upgrades should make the terrans a little bit more dangerous when going with an infantry heavy force.

As always, we are continuing to watch the data as we make these changes as well as are continuing to watch for constructive feedback on these changes and more.

The World of Warcraft Remote Auction House beta test is now open for business! The Remote Auction House is a new service in development that lets players access the World of Warcraft Auction House from the Armory website (http://us.wowarmory.com/auctionhouse/) or the Mobile Armory app for iPhone and iPod touch (here). Players can browse their characters’ local Auction Houses with the same search functionality available in the game, as well as see the real-time status of each of their current bids and auctions.

As we’d mentioned previously, certain features of the Remote Auction House will be premium-based. Once the beta test is complete and the Remote Auction House is live, players will be able to subscribe to a new service called World of Warcraft Remote (http://us.wowarmory.com/wow-remote.xml), which will allow them to buy items; post items for sale from a character’s bags, bank, or mailbox; collect gold from their bids and auctions; and more. During the beta test, players can try out these features for free, and each World of Warcraft account will be able to perform up to 25 transactions per day. (Please note this limit will be increased at launch.)

What is the World of Warcraft Remote Auction House beta test?
The Remote Auction House is a new feature, currently undergoing beta testing, that allows players to log in to the Armory and browse any Auction House that the characters on their World of Warcraft account have access to. Once beta testing is complete and the Remote Auction House is live, players who subscribe to an upcoming service called World of Warcraft Remote will also be able to bid on or buy out existing auctions; post items for sale from their bags, bank, and mailbox; and collect gold that they earn in auctions or that is returned as a result of being outbid, all through the web or their compatible mobile device. During the beta-testing period, players will be able to try out and test all of these features, including premium features such as making bids and posting auctions, without a subscription to World of Warcraft Remote.

How do I browse the Remote Auction House via the web?
After you log in and designate a primary character, click on the Browse Auctions tab, and then enter the search term in the field. You can narrow your search using the filters and options, which are similar to those available in the game. To switch between the character’s faction-specific auction house and the realm’s neutral auction house, click the faction symbol in the upper-right corner of the interface. A World of Warcraft Remote subscription will not be required to browse the Auction House in this fashion; however, please note that after the beta test concludes, you will need to subscribe to World of Warcraft Remote in order to bid on or buy out items from the results window.

How do I create auctions?
From the Create Auctions tab, select the item you wish to sell from the list on the left side of the screen. You can sell any transferable item (excluding account-bound items) from your bags, bank, or mailbox. Once selected, you can set a starting price, a buyout price, the quantity you wish to sell, and the number of stacks (to create multiple auctions for that item). Please note that after the beta test concludes, you will need a subscription to World of Warcraft Remote in order to create auctions.

How can I collect gold from successful auctions and unsuccessful bids?
To collect gold from a successful auction, click the My Auctions tab, and then click the Claim Gold button next to the successful auction, or the Claim All Gold button to claim the gold from all successful auctions. The gold will be removed from your mailbox and given to your character. You can also reclaim gold from unsuccessful bids on the My Bids tab. Please note that after the beta test concludes and the live service launches, you will need a subscription to World of Warcraft Remote to use these features.

How will I subscribe to World of Warcraft Remote?
Subscriptions to World of Warcraft Remote are not yet available; we’ll have more information about how to subscribe after the Remote Auction House beta test concludes. In the meantime, you can visit the World of Warcraft Remote FAQ for more information.

Is there a limit to the number of transactions (purchases and sales) I can make?
Yes. In order to help prevent abuse of this service, there will be a system in place to limit the total number of Auction House transactions (including bids, buyouts, and creating auctions) that a single World of Warcraft account can perform through World of Warcraft Remote each day. For the purposes of the beta test, the limit is set to 25 transactions per day per World of Warcraft account. When the Remote Auction House beta test ends and the live World of Warcraft Remote service launches, we plan to increase the limit to 200 transactions per day (with a World of Warcraft Remote subscription), though this limit is subject to change. Our goal with this system is to ensure that most players who are using the service will not reach the limit, and we will be continuously monitoring how the service is used and making adjustments to the system as needed.

Is the Remote Auction House affected by weekly maintenance?
The Remote Auction House will be unavailable during periods of downtime, which includes the weekly Tuesday maintenance period. In addition, during the beta-testing period, the service may be unavailable for periods of time for testing purposes.

Who can participate in the World of Warcraft Remote Auction House beta test?
The Remote Auction House beta test is open to existing World of Warcraft players on select realms — you do not need to sign up to participate. For a complete list of realms currently participating in the beta test, visit the Remote Auction House Beta Test thread in the official World of Warcraft forums. If you do not see your realm listed, check back later, as we plan to expand the beta test to all realms in the future.

Head on over to the World of Warcraft patch 3.3.5 PTR and check out the new “Onxia/Sartharion” style raid The Ruby Sanctum! MORE DRAGONS! RAWR!

Below you will find the PTR patch 3.3.5 notes. Please bear in mind these changes are not exhaustive and are subject to revision at any time during the 3.3.3 testing phase. When these notes are updated, we will attempt to highlight any sections that have been added or altered in this post for your reference. Please note that, due to the manner in which test realm patch updates are applied, some of the changes reflected in the PTR notes may not appear until the next test build is released.

World of Warcraft PTR Patch 3.3.5

The latest patch notes can always be found at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/

The latest test realm patch notes can always be found at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/test-realm-patchnotes.html

General

The Ruby Sanctum, an all-new 10- and 25-player raid featuring normal and Heroic difficulties, is now available for testing! Players will find the dungeon entrance below Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight.

Copied Test Realm characters are not copied with their achievement history in order to better facilitate the character copy process.

User Interface

Chat Frame

Players can now right-click on any chat type (Whisper, Trade, General, Party, Raid, etc.) and choose the Pop Out Chat option. This will move that chat type to a separate tab in the Chat frame which can be undocked and moved anywhere on the screen.

Using the Pop Out Chat option on a Whisper will place the conversation with that player in a separate tab.

Any time a conversation with another player is put into its own tab, the tab will glow when a new message is received.

Hovering over the Chat Frame and using the mouse wheel will allow players to scroll through chat text.

Players can select Classic Mode under Interface Options to keep the Chat Frame functionality closer to what it was prior to patch 3.3.5.

The Simple Chat User Interface option has been removed.

Friends List

A new icon has been added to the top left of the Chat Frame which will open up the Friends list.

In addition to its current functionality, the Friends List will now allow players to add Battle.net accounts (Real ID). Players will have to confirm that they are friends in order for a Real ID to be added. Once Real ID friends, players can communicate cross-game, cross-faction and cross-realm.

A new Pending tab has been added where players can accept or decline a Real ID friend request, or select the Report Spam or Block Communications buttons.

Players can now select from three statuses which will be visible to their friends: Available, Away and Busy.

A Broadcast window has been added to the top of the frame. Players can use this to broadcast a message to all of their Real ID friends online. This message will also be displayed under the broadcaster’s Real ID information in each friend’s list.

Check out the new bits of news about upcoming changes to professions in Cataclysm!

While the Cataclysm updates to many of the professions are still deep in development, we wanted to share some of the work that’s been going on, as well as a high-level look at any lessons learned or changes to their underlying philosophies during the design process. Please be aware that not all professions have the same extent of information available right now, but each is receiving the same love and attention as the next.

Take heed of these teasers as you look forward to your new rank of Illustrious Grand Master!

Please enjoy!

General

Perks will continue to exist across all professions, and will upgraded appropriately.

Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, and Tailoring

Many of the green (and possibly some blue) items made during the process of leveling these professions will contain random stats. In most examples, two stats on these items will be set, and two will be random. The idea with these items is to mix up the skill leveling items so you’re not just, for example, creating 10 pairs of boots that are all exactly the same.

Superior-quality items that require more materials than other recipes in the same skill range provide multiple skill-ups. For example, if a recipe takes three times the reagents, it will give you three skill-ups.

We didn’t feel like we were getting much flexibility from specializations, so they have been removed for all three of these professions. The intent was to help people diversify their profession to feel different from that of other players, but through other professions we’ve found systems that work better to this end, such as simply making recipes available that you can earn over time.

To follow up the previous change, all items that required a specialization are now useable by anyone.

Tailoring the high-end Cataclysm items will center around a single cloth type that can be crafted through five different recipes — each with their own material components and a long cooldown.

All three professions will create their starter sets of PVP gear, which will be upgraded with new recipes every season. In general, these are meant to keep pace as an entry-level PvP set below whatever the current Hero Point set is.

Alchemy

New elixirs will be about 75% as strong as flasks. So you can get more total stat points with two elixirs, but flasks will still be the best at giving you a single offensive or defensive stat.

New unique material used by nearly all high-level recipes will be created by alchemists on a one-day cooldown.

New Mysterious Potion created with common materials restores health and mana in a massively random range, as well as sometimes granting the benefit of another potion. The health and mana range is from 1-20,000 and is able to crit. The minimum amount restored, however, is scaled upwards by the Alchemy skill, making it a great choice for alchemists to keep for themselves.

All potions and elixirs now use the same basic vial type. Flasks still use a fancy vial.

New Alchemist Stone.

Enchanting

In general, material component costs for most recipes are more moderate in how much they require, while the highest-end recipes will still require large quantities. The goal of this change is to make the leveling recipes more consistent and not create unintended roadblocks in getting to the higher skill levels.

An enchanter vanity pet is being added.

New Cataclysm weapon enchantment preview:

Avalanche — Chance to deal Nature damage on melee hit/spell hit.

Elemental Slayer — As expected, this enchantment helps players deal devastating damage to elemental creatures.

Hurricane — A stacking haste proc.

Heartsong — Mana regeneration through increased Spirit when chain-casting spells.

Many more maximum-level enchantments are still in progress.

Engineering

Engineering is still being designed, but expect new unpredictable gadgets to use on yourself or enemies. Toys, explosives, and even a new vanity pet or two. Oh, and powerful mechanical bows and crossbows in addition to guns.

In general, we want Engineering to remain a tradeskill mainly focused on creating fun or useful gadgets for the engineer, but we are exploring options for items that can be sold to other players for profit.

Inscription

With the large number of class changes coming with Cataclysm, many existing glyphs will see new functionality.

Minor glyphs are woefully uneven from one class to the next right now, so they’re a focus for us to clean them up and try to ensure that everyone has minor glyphs they’re excited about.

New Darkmoon Cards will be added, with hopes they’ll all be as awesome as the Greatness card.

We’ll be adding more major glyphs as well, but in the hopes of making them as balanced as possible, we’ll likely wait until after the expansion ships to add any for the new abilities in Cataclysm.

New and more desirable off-hand and relic recipes will be added.

Jewelcrafting

Some gem colors have changed! Hit is now blue. Mastery and Dodge are yellow. Intellect is now red. These simple changes have created a much more diverse matrix of gem cuts.

New Jewelcrafting dailies will be introduced.

Many cuts are being added to support the new Mastery stat.

Some new Cataclysm jewelry recipes have completely random properties, and can sometimes create superior and epic versions.

Jewelcrafters will have some fun new (and potentially lucrative) vanity items, including fist weapons, rhinestone sunglasses, monocles, and stardust (sprinkle on players for entertainment).

Herbalism, Skinning, and Mining

All Cataclysm herbs have the chance of containing Volatile Life.

There won’t be a new Lotus equivalent in Cataclysm. Alchemists will use the more reliably-found Volatile Life to create the new high level flasks.

Herb Example:

“Heartblossom — Named for its deep red color, this delicate flower grows close to the ground, and always in pairs. If one blossom is taken, the other flower begins to wilt immediately and dies soon after. It is considered very unlucky to disturb a Heartblossom without blessing it first.”

Savage Leather, the basic Cataclysm leather, can be gathered from most creatures found in the expansion areas and can be converted to Heavy Savage Leather at a 6:1 rate.

Pristine Hide, the rare Cataclysm hide, can be found when skinning creatures in the expansion areas, or be converted from Heavy Savage Leather.

Obsidian is the new common mineral found when mining in Cataclysm, and can contain gems, Volatile Fire, and Volatile Shadow.

Elementium is the new uncommon mineral found when mining in Cataclysm, and can contain gems, Volatile Fire, Volatile Water, or Volatile Earth.

Pyrite is the new rare mineral found when mining in Cataclysm, and can contain gems and Volatile Fire.

Previous Elementium Ore and Bar used for classic quests will be renamed to Elementium Ingot and Hardened Elementium Bar.

We like the gathering perks as they are; not a game-changing bonus but something themed and fun. But as all tradeskills are in the design stages these are still being discussed to a degree.

Cooking

Cooking is still in the early stages, but we plan on continuing with daily quests, feasts, and some fun new recipes.

We liked the cooking dailies that had players picking up items that spawned in the world near the quest giver, so most if not all new cooking dailies will work similarly.

First Aid

Bandages will have a short cast time and put a heal over time effect on the target for 8 seconds. This effect is broken by damage.

Three new bandages! That’s right: THREE!

Bandage preview:

“Dense Embersilk Bandage” Heals for 34,800 over 8 seconds. Requires 3 Embersilk to create.

Fishing

Lots of new fish and other fun items to catch! Fish are still used to make premium food.

New fishing dailies.

All 5x Hunters. No healers. Comments list any issues I had in the run. Will hopefully get ST up this weekend.

5x BM. Builds are similar but not identical. I found talents I normally wouldn’t take or find useful solo are worthwhile for 5x hunter (like the improved heal and any party booster talent). I toyed with the idea of mixing BM and Marks but it would just reduce efficiency too much IMO.

Directly from the horses mouth:

Beginning Wednesday, April 7 we will begin releasing class previews containing an overview of some of the changes currently being planned for each of the 10 World of Warcraft classes. The type of information you can expect from these posts are a list of the new spells from 80-85, the new passive mastery bonuses for all talent trees, a brief outline of some of the talent changes we’re currently planning, and in some cases new low level spells for select classes.

These changes will by no means be comprehensive, and are subject to change between now and the launch of the expansion. It’s also important to understand that some classes are currently further along in the development process than others, and as a result the amount of information will vary from class to class. Please do not let this frustrate you should your class be amongst those which are on the “lighter” side of things, as all classes will receive the same level of design attention before the expansion is released. Additionally we’ll be providing more information for all classes, especially as we move into the beta phase.

Below is the schedule for each class:

Shaman – April 7
Priest – April 7
Warlock – April 7

Warrior – April 8
Death Knight – April 8
Rogue – April 8

Hunter – April 9
Druid – April 9
Mage – April 9

Paladin – April 16*

These posts are being coordinated internationally so they’ll be posted at different times throughout the day and night on the given dates to give players around the world the ability to see posts made at a convenient time. This thread will be updated with links directly to each class preview as they’re posted.

*The paladin is still deep in development. Instead of giving a preview that would be potentially less comprehensive than the other classes we made the decision to post it when it’s ready, in order to properly honor the paladin class and those that play them. The wait isn’t too long however as we’re expecting to be able to post it on April 16.

World of Warcraft Client Patch 3.3.3

PvP

The amount of Honor awarded for an Honorable Kill has been increased by 100% for characters of all levels. Since all Honor is awarded based on a conversion rate from Honorable Kills, this change will effectively double the amount of Honor received from Honorable Kills, or for completing Battleground and Wintergrasp objectives; however, the amount of experience gained from completing Battleground objectives and the amount of Honor rewarded for completing each Wintergrasp quest remain unchanged.

Battlegrounds

The Random Battleground system has been added! Similar to the Random Dungeon system in the Dungeon Finder, players can now queue for a random Battleground.

The Random Battleground option can be found in the Battleground tab of the PvP frame and is only available for level 80 characters at this time.

If this option is selected, players may not queue for specific Battlegrounds and a random Battleground simultaneously.

Similar to the Random Dungeon system, players will not know for which Battleground they are chosen when selected from the queue until they zone into the Battleground.

The Random Battleground option will only allow a group size of 5 players to queue together.

Bonus rewards will be offered for choosing the Random Battleground option.

Winning a Battleground using the Random Battleground option for the first time in a day will award players with 30 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency and 25 Arena points.

Winning additional Battlegrounds using the Random Battleground option after the first random win will award players with 15 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.

Losing a Battleground using the Random Battleground option will award players with 5 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.

Daily Battleground quests have been removed in place of the Random Battleground option.

Battlegrounds will no longer award Marks of Honor.

Players with existing Marks of Honor can still turn them in to their respective faction’s quest givers, including individual marks for those who may have more marks for one Battleground than another.

Items which previously required Marks of Honor will have their costs adjusted to remove these requirements.

Whenever a Battleground has the holiday bonus active, it will now be referred to as “Call to Arms” in the Battleground tab and Calendar. In addition, Call to Arms Battleground Honor rewards have been changed.

Choosing a specific Battleground with the Call to Arms bonus active will yield the exact same rewards as when choosing the Random Battleground option.

Winning a Call to Arms Battleground for the first time in a day will award players with 30 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency and 25 Arena points.

Additional Call to Arms Battleground victories after the first win for a player that day will award them with 15 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.

Losing a Call to Arms Battleground will award players with 5 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.

When using the Random Battleground option, players will not receive additional rewards if the Battleground chosen is under the Call to Arms bonuses. In addition, the rewards for the first victory of the day cannot be earned more than once, regardless of whether or not it is obtained from the Random Battleground system or the Call to Arms Battleground.

Wintergrasp

The internal balance system now only changes when a faction achieves 2 consecutive defenses after an initial capture of Wintergrasp, up from 1. More details can be found on our PvP Discussion forum: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=23329393344

Dungeons & Raids

All weekly quests will now reset during each region’s scheduled maintenance, rather than at a single global time.

Culling of Stratholme

Players may now skip the initial introduction dialog to this dungeon once they have completed it at least once.

Icecrown Citadel

Blood-Queen Lana’thel: Pact of the Darkfallen now applies damage twice as often, but for half the damage. This change will make the removal of the spell a bit more responsive.

Hellscream’s Warsong and Strength of Wrynn now provide their bonuses to player pet health and damage, as well as the absorption amounts of Power Word: Shield and Sacred Shield.

World Event Bosses

Holiday bosses (such as Ahune for the Fire Festival) will now be accessible through the Dungeon Finder.

Players must use the Dungeon Finder or speak to special holiday NPCs in the world to queue up and access these bosses.

Upon accepting a queue for any holiday boss, the party will be ported directly to the necessary area for confronting that boss.

The previous summoning criteria for these bosses have been removed. Players can queue up for and fight each World Event boss as many times as they want for any standard loot that they may drop.

All rare holiday items (such as The Horseman’s Reins) will have a chance of being found in holiday-themed loot troves which will drop once for each player in the party no more than once per day, in the same manner that doing the Random Dungeon daily quest will provide a specific reward the first time it is completed in a day.

Classes: General

Several raid buffs have had their ranges increased to 100 yards, up from 45 yards, to prevent select buffs from repeatedly getting applied and removed during highly mobile encounters. Some buffs, such as paladin auras, totems, shouts and Blood Pact are intentionally meant to have shorter ranges and remain unchanged.

Shaman Tier-10 4-Piece Elemental set Bonus: This bonus has been slightly adjusted to account for the fact that haste now modifies Flame Shock’s periodic damage ticks. The bonus now makes the shaman’s Lava Burst cause Flame Shock to tick at least two additional times before expiring.

Professions

Runed Orbs: Recipes which require this item have had their material requirements significantly reduced.

Engineering

The Pet Bombling and Lil’ Smoky non-combat pets are no longer Bind-on-Pickup.

Fishing

The “Monsterbelly Appetite” daily fishing quest has changed so it now takes place outside the Violet Hold in Dalaran. The quest still requires a Severed Arm and has been renamed to “Disarmed!”

Inscription

Most recipes that required 2 inks now only require 1.

Mining

Titansteel Bar: Creating this item no longer results in a cooldown. If this ability is on cooldown when the patch is applied, players must wait for the cooldown to expire naturally before it is permanently removed.

Glacial Bag: Creating this item now invokes a 7-day cooldown.

The cooldown and location requirements have been removed from creating Moonshroud, Spellweave and Ebonweave. If any of these abilities are on cooldown when the patch is applied, players must wait for the cooldowns to expire naturally before they are permanently removed.

Quests

Many quests which require vehicles have had their vehicle mechanics updated and improved in the interest of fun.

User Interface

All Alert pop-ups now have new and fresh Alert icons.

Auction House

If the Auction House on a realm is unavailable for any reason, an alert will pop up informing players who attempt to access it.

Players can now Right-Click to place an item in the Auction frame.

Entire stacks of a specific item type can be placed in the Auction frame and several options have been added for choosing how to list auctions.

Stack Size: If a stack of items has been added to the Auction frame, players can select the size of the stack they wish to sell. If an invalid stack size is entered (i.e. a stack of 21 Saronite Ore), the Create Auction button will be grayed out.

Number of Stacks: In addition to selecting the size of a stack, players can select how many stacks of an item they wish to sell (i.e. if a player has a total of 43 Saronite Ore in the Auction frame, they can choose to list 2 stacks of 20, 4 stacks of 10, 8 stacks of 5, 43 stacks of 1, etc. If the number and amount of stacks listed results in a remainder, the left-over items will be placed back in the player’s bags automatically).

Stack Size and Number of Stacks are linked mathematically so that altering the variables of one may automatically calculate the amount of the other (i.e. if a player puts 20 in the Stack Size field and 43 Saronite Ore are in the Auction frame, the Number of Stacks field will change to 2 by default. If a player only wishes to sell one stack of 20 Saronite Ore, the Number of Stacks field can be manually changed to 1).

Price: Players can now choose to input the price of an item Per Stack or Per Item by selecting either option from a pull-down. If Per Item is selected and a player is selling a stack of that item, the Auction House will multiply the selected Per Item price by the amount of that item in the stack. If Per Stack is selected, the player can enter the total price he or she wishes to charge for each stack of that item being listed.

Auction Post Completion Bar: If multiple items or stacks of items are being listed at once by a player, a Posting completion bar will appear showing the total progress of each individual auction being listed once the Create Auction button is selected. The greater the number of individual listings being made in a single press of the Create Auction button, the longer this process will take. Players can still browse the Auction House while the Posting completion bar is in progress, but moving around will interrupt the progress, similar to moving while attempting to create multiple bandages with First Aid. Just as with creating bandages, auctions that were completed prior to the character moving or otherwise canceling the action will successfully be listed.

Dungeon Finder

The Deserter debuff given to players who leave a dungeon prematurely when queuing via the Random Dungeon option has been increased to 30 minutes, up from 15 minutes. The cooldown for using the Random Dungeon option remains 15 minutes.

The Random Dungeon cooldown is no longer displayed as a debuff. Instead, players will see the cooldown time remaining displayed in the Dungeon Finder window when Random Dungeon or Random Heroic Dungeon is selected from the pull-down.

If a player in your party has the Deserter debuff, or is on cooldown from the Random Dungeon option, his or her character name will be displayed in the Dungeon Finder window listed as “On Cooldown,” preventing the group from queuing.

Anyone in a dungeon party can now re-queue their group for a dungeon, as players will still be prompted whether or not to accept their chosen role.

Players who use the Vote Kick option will now be prompted to provide a reason for kicking a party member. This reason will be presented to everyone in the party except for the person voted to be kicked.

When joining as a group, more generous level requirements will be used instead of Random Dungeon level requirements so that players of different levels joining together will be eligible for a greater number of dungeons.

Parties randomly created via the Dungeon Finder will always be arranged in the party interface from top to bottom in the following order: tank, healer, damage, damage, damage.

If a random party is created via the Dungeon Finder and a player cannot roll Need on an item, a reason will now be provided.

Players can no longer roll Need on Frozen Orbs in dungeons under Need Before Greed loot rules. Pass and Greed options will still be available.

Authenticator Frame: If a player has a Battle.net Authenticator attached to his or her account and selects Remember Account Name at the login screen, the next time that player logs into World of Warcraft, a field to input the Authenticator code will be displayed below the password field.

The World Map will now provide an option to display different levels of a multi-layered dungeon, zone, or city (i.e. players can view the map of the Dalaran Sewers without having to be in that location).

Quest Tracking Feature

The Quest Tracking Objectives Frame can now be widened via the Interface Options menu.

The short description for a tracked quest is now displayed on the Map in the quest pane.

Quest items in a player’s inventory which begin quests now each have an exclamation point overlaid on their icons to make them more easily identifiable.

If a players selects Track Low Level Quests, the quest objectives will no longer appear dim on the Map, nor will the exclamation points appear dim over NPC heads or on the Mini-Map.

Objectives Frame

The Objectives Frame will now list the number of quests displayed at the top. In addition, players can now click on the word “Objectives” at the top of the Objectives Frame for a list of sorting and filtering options which will determine how quests are ordered. Any quests or achievements filtered or sorted out of the Objectives Frame are still being tracked and are simply hidden in this frame.

Sorting
