Blizzard's Eyonix reviews the upcoming "Mastery" system | read this item
Last week, we gave you an early look at the changes we’re making to the stat system in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, and explained how these changes will ultimately provide players with more interesting gear choices and make stats easier to understand. Today we’d like to go into more detail about a brand-new feature that’s an integral part of this overhaul: the Mastery system, a set of new game mechanics designed to allow players to become better at what makes their chosen talent tree cool or unique. With this system, we want to accomplish three things: give players more freedom in how they allocate talent points, simplify some of the “kitchen sinky” talents that try to do too much at once, and add a new stat to high-level gear that makes you better at your chosen role. As many of you know from panels at last year’s BlizzCon and posts here on the forums since then, Cataclysm will bring about major changes to familiar character stats such as Intellect, Armor Penetration, Defense, and others, ultimately designed to make the effects of stats more easily understandable and make gear choices more interesting. As these changes will have a significant impact on how stats work and relate to one another, today we wanted to offer you a closer look at exactly what’s in store and explain some of the rationale before Cataclysm arrives.
The most obvious question these changes raise is “Why are stats being changed, and why now?” As the game has matured, we’ve run into increasingly complex issues with the current stat system. Many stats are inherently confusing, and the way they interrelate can feel convoluted. Attack Power, for example, currently translates to damage, but so does Armor Penetration. Defense provides five different statistical benefits of varying utility. Mana regeneration involves understanding multiple stats and rules and often ends up being irrelevant anyway. In addition, the difference between a “good stat” for a class and a “bad stat” can be extreme. Some casters want Haste but not Crit; hunters want Armor Penetration but not Haste. There are other overarching issues, as well, such as Intellect not being very exciting for casters despite it being a core stat — and these are just a few examples. Continue Reading

Ualaa and his Amazing Alchemy Guide | read this item
Ualaa’s Alchemy
(Transmute Guide)
Introduction
While we can take a single toon and fly about gathering mineral or herbs, the same as any other one-boxer… and possibly even have a few toons doing the same at one time, switching between them. This is not really that much more efficient a means to make gold then we could do as single boxers.
Dailies are a decent method to compound our extra characters into more gold then a one-boxer makes, from doing the same thing as one character. It requires a route which is based off of either kills or drops where each toon can loot from every corpse. My current route takes 45 minutes on the first team and an hour on the other two teams, and makes 1100g in the process. But dailies are repetitive and boring, even if they are consistent. It is getting rather hard to make myself run the route each day. Continue Reading

Want 1000mbit/sec Internet Access for "t3h cheep"? | read this item
Imagine playing WoW on 1000mb/sec fiber optic connection, rolling around with 9ms ping times. Well guess what? Google wants to give it to just me you.
Google is planning to launch an experiment that we hope will make Internet access better and faster for everyone. We plan to test ultra-high speed broadband networks in one or more trial locations across the country. Our networks will deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today over 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections. Continue Reading

Blizzard changes Lich King weapon drops! | read this item
Although this probably won’t affect too many of us in the near future, Blizzard is already tinkering with many of the stats supplied by the Lich King’s weapon drops. A community manager on the Korean site posted about upcoming changes to one Lich King-10 and four Lich King-25 weapons, and Boubouille’s posted a translation with help from user Locriani. A lot of raiders had been surprised at the itemization decisions, and as a raiding healer, I’ve seen a lot of commentary concerning the uninspiring presence of MP5 on the Royal Scepter of Terenas II. Blizzard’s specifically addressing these concerns. Continue Reading

Below is a movie of the what happens AFTER the Lich King is defeated! This is a huge spoiler, but a definite must see. The mightly Lich King, Arthas Menethil, is defeated, joined in spirit by his father, King Terenas.
Lich King Arthas: Father, is it over?
King Terenas: At long last, no king rules forever my son.
Lich King Arthas: I see only darkness before me.
King Terenas: …. There must always be a Lich King.
Bergisst wrote an excellent post today on World PVP general strategies. If you are new to World of Warcraft and want to engage in world PVP, this is a good read.
World PvP: Player versus Player in the big wide World of Warcraft. It generally means fighting outside of battlegrounds and arena–brawling in enemy cities, or chasing players out of your towns, etc.
For me, World PvP means World Defense. I enjoy going around to anywhere that is under attack and driving the attackers away. For others, it can mean fighting anyone you come across on a PvP realm, or it can merely mean Wintergrasp, Venture Bay, Spirit Towers in Auchindoun etc. Continue Reading

Ghostcrawler to substantially change talent trees in Cataclysm | read this item
Ghostcrawler, one of the Blizzard employees responsible for the current design as well as upcoming changes in World of Warcraft, had this to say recently on the forums:
1) We are changing talent trees, in some cases substantially. The major focus is pruning out boring but valuable talents that passively increase say damage or healing.
2) A secondary focus is to fix the clunky areas (e.g. warlocks having two conflicting range increasing talents). We’re not going to remove old favorites or radically change the focus of the trees. You will definitely have to rethink your builds however.
3) Because you earn passive bonuses just for spending points in the tree, those fun, niche or utility talents won’t seem as expensive as they do today. Continue Reading

These specific flash advertisements were crafted specifically to key log World of Warcraft Accounts and may be disguised as advertisements for things OTHER than gold farming websites. Blizzard speaks up on recent patch issues | read this item
Blizzard put together an extensive list of issues in WoW that they recognize and are looking to patch. One of them that I have feel repeated victim to is the Uldaman bugs whereas you cannot combine the 2 items required to open up one of the boss doors. For new players who are in Uldaman for ~5 levels of their life, this can be extremely bothersome.
General Issues
Logging out inside a battleground and logging back in after the BG is completed will cause characters to be unable to queue using the Looking for Dungeon System.
Blizzard announces PVP Resilience Changes | read this item
It was announced today that there will be a major change to resilience, which is being hotfixed into the game as we approach the new arena season. The change is expected to be in place for the duration of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion; which we take to mean it will not carry over into Cataclysm.
This change will “double the value of resilience in reducing damage done by players,” according to Bornakk. Players will see a 10% to 20% reduction in damage taken. However, this change will not affect critical strike chances or critical strike damage. If healing becomes too over powered with this change, Blizzard has a “PvP only solution” Continue Reading

Tim and Rob’s Priest and Hunter team had a ball running through Blackfathom Deeps (BFD) on their team of hunters and priests. The team consists of the following:
Tim: 2x Priests – Holy Spec
Rob: 3x Hunters – BM Spec (Pet spec’d for tanking)
The general strategy was to run in, raise hell with aggro, and have the pets tank everything while the Hunters DPS’d with multishot a bunch. At the same time, the Priests would go nuts casting Holy Nova, both for DPS and for healing.

Blizzard developer Q+A via Twitter! | read this item
Today the Blizzard team consisting of Bornakk, Ghostcrawler, Aratil, had a Q+A session via Twitter and the results are some really great insight onto things coming in the game. Check this out!
Q. If damage and healing is too much per health ratio, then why don’t you have battlegrounds/arenas give a -30% damage/healing debuff?
A. We have been talking about solutions like that. It might feel a bit awkward, but it might also solve the problem and maybe it’s okay in the last season before an expansion to experiment a little bit.
Q. Is there talk of a fire shield spell for elemental shaman to use like water shield for restoration shaman?
A. Not at this time.
Q. Do you still have plans to implement guild housing?
A. Guild housing isn’t a priority. Aside from the huge development involved it gets people out of cities and into these private areas other players can’t see. We like cities to feel populated. But I’m not sure anyone expected WoW to be going as strong as it is after five years, so who knows in the future. Continue Reading

Blizzard to make resilience more important in Arena | read this item
The Blizzard forums are typically a breeding ground for QQing of all sorts, but today I read a very interesting post, and an even more interesting response from Blizzard.
“This is just a question I’ve been wondering about and that is how has burst gotten to be so high? I’ve been watching some of the BC pvp vids and the damage seemed significant but never this crazy “global or be globaled” stuff we see currently. Were there any reasons or factors that contributed to Burst getting so high or is it just the natural trend of things?”
To which Blizzard responded (in 2 posts):
“We think everything is a little too intense right now, almost like playing the game on fast forward. Yes, damage can come in too quickly, but that is partially because healing is also so huge that without some amount of burst, it would seem as though nobody would ever die. It’s as if players are either at 100% health or 0% health, and very infrequently effective in between. Continue Reading

Multiboxing Stockades with 2 multiboxers | read this item
A little over a week ago, Tim and Rob decide to build a new team of multiboxers with the intent to play together on the new team as much as possible. The team is built around PVE and PVP, with PVP being more of the focus. The team is highly specialized and consists of only two character classes.
Tim – 2x Priests, currently both Holy spec
Rob – 3x Hunters, currently both BM spec
The reasoning behind the team composition is that the BM pets should easily be able to tank with the hunters contributing the bulk of the groups DPS, while at the same time healing the pets through pet and hunter talents. The dual priests will float around spamming Holy Nova Continue Reading

Blizzard Account Administration told not to restore hacked characters | read this item
In a stunning revelation from a veteran account administrator at Blizzard, WoW.com has learned that account administrators are being told by Blizzard managers not to restore people’s characters and items after their account has been ransacked by gold sellers and keyloggers. Instead, account administrators are being told to give people a “care package” and get them to accept the package in lieu of total account restoration.
If the player does not accept this care package, they are then forced to go into a character restoration queue that is consistently several days to weeks long. According to sources familiar with the situation, this “care package policy” has been implemented in order to lighten the work load of those Blizzard employees who perform account restorations. Similar policies have existed at other times account compromises have been high, such as during the transition from Vanilla WoW to The Burning Crusade. Continue Reading

If you’re like a lot of our level 80 multiboxers, you probably go in and lose your ten games for the week and then absorb your free points and enjoy reduced pvp gear honor costs. Well, the end of season 7 could just be a couple short weeks away. Blizzard announced yesterday that season 7 is set to end on January 19th. As per the usual, we’ll get a new Vault of Archavon boss, a new set of PVP gear (should be iLevel 277) and the current top gear available for stupid amounts of honor. I suspect we’ll also get the new set of gear available for frost badges.
All in all, this is definitely business as usual for the end of the season. If you’re saving up for a piece of gear right now, I’d suggest holding on to your honor and just splurging when the new season starts on the next tier of gear up. Enjoy your PVPing.

Blizzard is giving away Alienware...ware. | read this item
For what I’m assuming is a total ripoff of one of our own contests (RIP multiboxing video contest), Blizzard is offering up a rather nice credit towards an Alienware desktop or notebook. Of course, this isn’t about making a multiboxing video. This is more towards the RP side of the World of Warcraft. The movies themselves can be pretty much whatever you want as long as they are done in-game. So, test out your movie making skills (again), and get a PC.
And If you don’t have time for movie-making, they’re offering a raffle for a i7 PC.
Recently, omgMooter got his early Christmas present from Multiboxing.com. A Sony Playstation 3. Lucky guy. Well, assuming Tim is ever able to sort out getting it to him, he’ll be having a happy holiday. Well, in return we got a cool little pic from him to celebrate the holidays and to celebrate multiboxing. So, if you believe in Santa, then you should know that you can multibox Santa for uber amounts of gifts.
For the 5 anniversary of WoW (aka 15 anniversary of Warcraft), Blizzard has been running a photo submission contest. In it, you’d take a picture of yourself and in some way add either the Horde or the Alliance insignia. Some of them are creative, some of them not so much. But one thing they have in common is that they’re passionate about Warcraft.
Why there are no Cross-Realm raids... yet. | read this item
Let me preface this with what Blizzard’s viewpoints are on this.
Bornakk -
Doing this is a bit more complicated than the 5 player dungeons. For 5 player dungeons it’s not a big deal to allow the random heroics to skip lock outs and is not very hard to setup a group. We obviously can’t skip lockouts for raids and it just much more common for raids to not complete all of the content, so you could come back a few days later and find someone else cleared your instance. It’s definitely something that sounds good in theory but there are a lot of issues that we would have to figure out first.
I, for one, happen to agree with how Blizzard went about it. Or rather, didn’t not go about it…? Nevermind the failure of the english language. Point is, I dont mind how Blizzard went about it. I completely agree that a raid lockout is a whole different level of important. You talking about a lockout that you where its not really feasible to have a “random raid” just ignore it. Otherwise, it’d just be too speedy of a gear up.
However, judging from how well PuGs are performing in my own random dungeon groups… I really hope Blizzard doesn’t come up with a way to do this.

1x Druid Tank
3x Elemental Shaman

Halls of Reflection (HoR) is essentially a single room with multiple waves of mobs before fighting 2 bosses, and ends with a run from the Lich King himself.
The fight starts out with Lady Sylvanas and yourselves in the very room with the Lich King’s sword, Frostmourne. Uther the Lightbringer appears to still be bound to the sword and he warns Sylvanas to quickly exit before the Lich King comes. There appears to be some foreshadowing when Uther mentions that there must always be a Lich King, and that the current Lich King is actually helping the people of world. “Without the control of the Lich King, the scourge of the world would overrun…”
Multiple waves of elites will come at your team at once which, if killed quickly enough, will offer Continue Reading

Multiboxing Pit of Saron - ICC 5-man | read this item
Here is the first in a 3 part series of multiboxing Icecrown 5 man dungeons normal mode guides. Our group consists of the following:
1x Druid Tank
3x Elemental Shaman
1x Restoration Shaman
Our gear isn’t too sophisticated, I’d say our average item level is somewhere around item level 219 average, maybe a bit lower.
The Strategy
The trash is really easy, but not if you aren’t paying enough attention. You will see that we started out bad at the beginning by losing our tank due to pulling multiple groups at once. Thanks to 4x Earth Elementals we ended up surviving.
TheMuffinMan decided let us take a look at his gaming keyboard. A rather nice review of a gaming peripheral. He highlights what he loves about the keyboard. And he has plenty of love for it.
TheMuffinMan -
I love using they keyboard for many reasons. The biggest thing I like about it is that so many keys are just within a twitch of a move of my fingertips or my thumb and RARELY require me (usually only when I am boxing a full group) to move my hand at all. If I had to have 1 thing I did not like about it, its that (to save room on the width of the keyboard because of the left extensino) their is no “group” of buttons for Insert/Delete/Home/End etc… you have to turn the num-lock off and use the num-pad for those functions. Kinda a pain when I am working on software, but I could care less while playing WoW. Continue Reading

A Deeper understanding of the New Need/Greed System | read this item
Like most times that new things have come up in WoW, there are certain areas of gray that require the player base to “use its best judgement”. This has come up a lot with the new LFD loot system. Yes, I realize this isn’t restricted to LFD, but it is where it shows up the most. Many people are confused about certain situations about when to need or greed or now disenchant.
Blizzard has actually been pretty good about clarifying some things for us. Granted, they’re not the best at making sure the information gets as far out as possible. The forum-goers usually get the information first and it trickles down very grassrootsy to what I’d like to call the “have-nots” or non-forum-goers.
Blizzard hints at hidden Wintergrasp bonuses | read this item
I know this system has been in place for a while now, they’ve actually hinted at it before a couple of times. This is actually the first time a Blizzard employee has actually started a thread on the topic. Judging from the amount of ‘wha?’ going on in the thread, its pretty obvious that there are still many people that aren’t aware of this particular mechanic. So, I’ll give you the gist of it.
When Blizzard first talked about Wintergrasp at BlizzCon ‘08, they knew the biggest question on peoples’ mind was “What if I’m seriously outnumbered?”. The answer to that was the Tenacity we all know and love. A buff recalculated at intervals that culminates in a buff to health, healing, and damage. Presumably, this would allow a single player to take on many opponents (or a multiboxer taking on an entire team) when their own team is seriously outnumbered. There are people on both the giving and receiving end of the buff that will point out the flaws and argue whether or not it even works as intended. However, Blizzard has only hinted at a far less quantitative buff that is in place in case a faction seriously “outmatches” another.
WoW Hotfixes for December 15th, 2009 | read this item
Seems these are wonderfully (or annoyingly) common. This time, they’re half reversing the drop rate change to the Battered Hilt. Now, those of you that want a sparkly new sword like mine can more likely get it. In addition, Quel’Delar is now Unique-equipped. That didn’t make sense to me, because the questline is not repeatable (supposedly). So, in theory, you should never have a second one that would conflict with the first one in the first place. But I digress.
Among the other changes, is that you can now complete the “Perfect Run” of Naxxramas in any order you choose. Maybe I missed something here, but couldn’t you do that before? Probably a bug with doing the immortal run Saph/K’T first.
Blizzard Healer Discussion for Cataclysm | read this item
Ghostcrawler has been busy in a rather length thread about healing in World of Warcraft now and into Cataclysm. Sure a lot of it has been mostly rehashing on concepts that have been gone over time and again, but its always nice to be able to take a look into their heads. Some of the things that have been discussed are mana management, downranking, and health vs healing vs inc damage. The thread has been going for over a week so there is definitely a lot of reading to catch up on, so let me start you off here.
The general theory behind healing in Cataclysm is that you’ll no longer (see also less often) be spamming heals like a mad-man. To accomplish this, Blizzard is making it so tanks won’t be one or even two-shotted. At the same time, healers will not be able to one or even two-heal a tank from low to full health. This will, of course, lessen the stress of healers to heal or die. And at the same time, the efficiency of healing compared to mana pools will be significantly reduced, making not healing an important aspect of the healer’s job. Sort of a pick the time and place of your heals.
The final assault on the Lich King has begun and its up to you to secure victory for the forces of the Ashen Verdict. Sylvannas (or Jaina if youre one of THOSE people) leads you on a action-packed journey to Arthas’ guest house.
The Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons are the toughest challenges you’ll find outside a raid, and it doesnt disappoint. The new heroics push every bit of your skill and if you survive… well… good luck in the raid. You’re ready for it.
WoW.com gives us a look at the questline and dungeons that make up the stealth recon assault into the back halls of the citadel.
If you haven’t played in a few days (does the daystar still burn?), you may have missed the mini-patch that came down the pipes. What it actually does is anyone’s guess. Supposedly, there are a few bug fixes. But since Blizzard didn’t feel it necessary to tell us what is actually getting fixed, I’ll just have to make my own patch notes.
Multiboxing softwares - Come one, come all | read this item
Do you have a commercial or free multiboxing software that you’d like to make available to the public and support it on the official multiboxing.com website? Then this is the story for you! We are working on a program for other multiboxing softwares to be able to offer support, promote their software, get discussed, have guides, and more, all on our website here on multiboxing.com.
The goal is to allow commercial softwares to get specialized access to things like promoting their software on our front page, guide support, promoting their software on our forums, and more. Major update to Pwnboxer dual-boxing software | read this item
Pwnboxer has been updated to today to version 02.01.1213.05. As is the history of Pwnboxer, the software is constantly evolving with new multiboxing features for World of Warcraft dual-boxers and more. This version includes a major update with the introduction of our Dockable Clickmapping.
What is Dockable Clickmapping?
This is an in-game grid that you can click with your mouse to perform 1-to-1 (1 mouse click = 1 keystroke) mouse-to-key mapping to all of your game windows. This allows you to turn any mouse click on the in-game interface into an in-game keystroke sent to all your game windows. It is extremely easy to use yet extremely powerful. Tim, the author of Pwnboxer, has been testing this on various characters so far, including multiboxing up to 10 characters in World of Warcraft (9 Shaman and 1 Druid) at a single time, and can attest for the power of this new functionality.
Looking at the new Dungeon Finder system. | read this item
When 3.3 launched last week, it introduced a highly-streamlined way of getting into a instance group. Before you could only put your name in for 3 different dungeons. On top of that it was hard to slap together a group that was viable from the scraps that join the LFG queue.
Now, WoW does the heavy lifting for you. Itll slap together a viable group (assuming no one lied about their role) that is geared enough to run the content. Not only that, but the player pool is expanded to the battlegroup. Youll even get bonus loot from joining random dungeons.
Alright, its fair to say that Blizzard doesn’t have nearly as cool of contests as we here at multiboxing.com. But really, how can you compete with such awesome giveaways as video cards and PS3s just for hitting your screencap key or drawing like a 1st grader. But if you like your drinks in overly elaborate cups, then check out Blizzard’s new contest. Its not the incredibly awesome tech gear you’ll find with our contests, but you can’t blame them for trying.
WoW.com has an interesting article on Shamans, and we all know how the 3.3 patch changes can dramatically affect the most common multiboxing team of all.
Totem Talk is the column for shamans,. Matthew Rossi ran ICC twice this week and will probably run it on 10 man twice more, and yet managed to take possibly the worst screenshot of all time, which he shares with you above,. Can you find the three shamans, including himself, in it? He sure as heck couldn’t. But it’s got a skunk bear up front. That’s nice.
It’s been an interesting week all told. The new five mans and new raid are out (well, first four bosses of new raid, anyway… having both tanked and been melee DPS on Deathbringer Saurfang, I have to say, it’s an interesting mechanic but I’m already heartily sick of Blood Power, and I don’t look forward to healing it) and we’re seeing a couple of new mechanics and a new set of shorter cooldowns. I have to say, so far I really like the reduced cooldowns on our elemental totems. Now all they need is a pet bar, and not to die in two hits from any mob in sight. (I exaggerate slightly. Very slightly.) Continue Reading

Often times here at Multiboxing.com, we get into discussions where people come forth and confess that they’re completely clueless about something. This, of course, is where we come some further discussions and some really great guides. One such discussion led to both Tim and myself saying how much we didn’t know about “96969″. That sparked not one, but two different looks at the rotation all put into a single thread. Such wonderful things come from not knowing something.

Game Informer's Interview with Tigole | read this item
Game Informer recently sat down with Jeff Kaplan (aka Tigole) to discuss World of Warcraft. Kaplan had been on the world design team for years before finally switching of to Blizzard’s as of yet unnamed next-gen MMO. He talks about some of the history about the game’s development and where its looking to go in the future.
One excerpt of note though confirms an in-game cinematic for 3.3 ala Wrathgate.
Multiboxing.com is one of the best sources for guides about multiboxing. But we’re not content at being one of the best. We want to be the complete source for all things multiboxing. We’re always on the look out for new guides and new ideas. Which is why we have an entire section dedicated to it on our forums.

Blizzard extends their support hours. | read this item
For any of you that may have had your accounts compromised (as I have) you’d probably have noticed that you got hit either late friday or early saturday. Of course you would’ve had to wait until you could give Blizzard a call on monday morning. And while you waited, you had no access to your account or been able to stop those pesky hackers from spamming around the community under your name.
Well, those days are closer to over. Blizzard has extended their service hours to seven days a week. Now, you can get your account back in a matter of hours, instead of days. And best of all, no hours of busy signals on mondays.
Since Tim fired up a brand new duo of rogues, I thought it’d be interesting to take a look at what he’ll be walking into in the future. Ghostcrawler recent made a lengthy post about what goes on in the minds of the design team when it comes to everyone’s favorite stunlocker. Of course, you have to remember Cataclysm is far from final and what Blizzard “plans” and what they “do” sometimes can be quite different. Enjoy the look into the state of the rogues.
Ghostcrawler:
Ultimately, we’d like for more talent trees to look like Subtlety. Trading utility A for utility B is an interesting decision. Trading utility A for more dps is not an interesting decision; the latter is always going to win.

Team Malaias describes his FTL Setup | read this item
Team Malaias was kind enough to share with out how he utilizes what is being known as Focusless, Targetless, Leaderless (FTL) set up for his 5 man multiboxed team. His team consists of 5 World of Warcraft characters of the following names and classes:
Malaias – Druid Tank
Malaia – Elemental Shaman
Malaine – Elemental Shaman
Malaiah – Elemental Shaman
Malaena – Elemental Shaman
The Theory
The idea behind FTL (Focusless, targetless, leaderless) is to setup multiboxing in a way that you can transparently switch masters without having to change macros, play solo without worrying about the other characters and to not rely on focus or target for group actions.
A good article on these forums can be found here: Continue Reading

Click sequences and you - Multiboxing with efficiency | read this item
Ualaa has once again impressed us with an amazing multiboxing guide. This time he covers a method that can often result is achieving an absolute maximum amount of DPS efficiency, while also allowing the ability to perform a few macro sequences which you are not able to do inside a single macro alone.
Using Click for Multiple Castsequences
Goal
We want to create a master macro, which can be spammed very quickly. Based on our spam speed, we want it to call our damage dealing spells in the order we specify, and to have them recast at the best possible time. We want all this to be accomplished from spamming a single button. Continue Reading

Heroic Gundrak - Multiboxed by Howster | read this item
Gundrak (also known as Gun’Drak) is the capital of the ice troll nation of Zul’Drak in eastern Northrend. The Drakkari tribe rule Zul’Drak from here, constantly battling the mighty forces of the Scourge.
Our very own Howster multiboxes Gundrak and has created for us a quick two and a half minute video. His team looks to be 5 multiboxed characters, 1x Paladin Protection Spec, 1x Druid Restoration Spec, 3x Shamans Elemetal Spec.
His strategy for multiboxing this heroic looks very, very straightforward. He simply stands still and uses the typical “tank and spank” strategy for all of the bosses. For a Heroic instance in World of Warcraft, Gundrak is by far one of the most easy ones to do.
A little history about this instance: Gundrak is an instance which contains the final boss for the ice trolls. This instance will show the Ice Trolls in all their glory, and teach us why they have been so successful against the Scourge. The story that emerges in the completely constructed zone, Zul’Drak, and the instance at the end of that zone Continue Reading

Blizzard states Warcraft 4 is still years away | read this item
Ausgamers.com had a great article about Blizzard and the state of their games:
Five years ago, Blizzard thought they were ready to launch their ground-breaking new game, the genre-defining World of Warcraft. They had twenty servers set up, with twenty more in reserve. The plan was, over the next year or so, to replace broken hardware and potentially start up new servers as needed – but that wasn’t something they’d have to worry about for a while.
In conversation with J. Allen Brack, who is currently Director of Production for World of Warcraft, he reveals that Blizzard had much less time than they thought – setting up all twenty reserve servers “very early on the first day”. Even at launch, the game was far, far more popular than anybody could have imagined, causing the developer to frantically try to source server-class hardware to expand the available resources.
Today, Brack explains that Blizzard have come a long way from their modest beginnings, writing and re-writing server code many times over. The company is now in a position where they’re implementing technology they once thought was impossible. One such impossible task, which has taken a year and a half to complete is the new looking for groups system to be implemented in the upcoming 3.3 patch. This “monstrous project” will see the introduction of cross-server instancing, enabling you to play with (or against) more people in your battle groups. Continue Reading

WoW Guild Leveling - Yup, it is coming in Cataclysm | read this item
This may be old news for some, but it happens to be the first time I’ve heard about it. Blizzard released a couple videos about guild leveling for Cataclysm.
Your guild will get experience for players earning rep, killing bosses, doing dailies, getting achievements, Arena and BG wins, crafting, leveling up, and more. The top 20 earners in the guild each week will have their contributions turned into XP. Previous contributions won’t factor into a particular week’s XP, so every member of the guild has the chance to be a top earner each week.
Guild experience, once accrued at the end of each week, will be converted into guild currency, which can be used to buy a myriad of items, including reagents, tabards, pets, profession recipes, heirlooms, and Guild Talent points.
Guild Talents will be things like a Mass Resurrection spell on a 30-minute cooldown, removal of reagents for buff spells, and increased gold drops in the world and instances. Guild leaders can respec guild talents, though the method and cost (if any) is currently unknown. Continue Reading

Ever wondered how those multiboxers make their characters automatically spread apart, forming those neat “formations” with smooth, robotic-like ease? It just so happens that these precise individual character movements, known as formations, are actually just a clever use of WoW’s built-in movement keys, such as left strafing, right strafing, and moving forwards and backwards. Once you understand how it works, it is actually very easy to set up.
Our very own Ebony created this guide on how to do character formations in World of Warcraft with Pwnboxer’s key remapping features. This guide should enable you to impress your entire server with your awesome control of your multiboxing group:

The upcoming 3.3 is introducing Kirin Tor rings which have the ability to teleport your character back to Dalaran every 30 minutes.
This means that, with the ring, you no longer have to tie your hearthstone to Lagaran, err I mean, Dalaran. Maybe this will open up the potential for people to start hearthstoning to towns such as Tarren Mill or Southshore in case world PVP once again opens back up? One can only hope!
Surprising no one, Bornakk confirmed recently that there’s a new set of Kirin Tor rings on the way for those with lots of disposable income in Patch 3.3. With an item level of 251, they’re a significant upgrade to the 226 ring you upgraded back when Ulduar came out. You should expect the upgrade process to cost about as much as the last one — that is, 1000 gold pre-faction discount.

Heroic Utgarde Keep - Multiboxed by Tim | read this item
Tim launched into Utgarde Keep head-first. Diving into the deep end sporting no UI. The sheer power of elemental shamans showed its full force keeping the tank alive and dishing out a world of hurt. With only a severe lack of skinning skill keeping him from taking full advantage of piles of dragon bodies, he made quick work of pull after pull. Eventually, the UI came back as the pulls started looking like two and three at a time.
The first boss gave Tim little trouble as he wiped the floor with the Blood Prince. Unfortunately, the gear was as good as the fight was difficult, going only for a nice shard.
The next pulls (arguably the easiest in the instance) went by as well as can be expected. Eventually it came to the point that the pull was dead before even getting to the tank. A show of how incredibly powerful shaman can be. Continue Reading

Blizzard explains some upcoming changes in 3.3 | read this item
Blizzard is teasing us once again with reasonings behind balance changes, tank shortages, and general upcoming updates in 3.3 and Cataclysm.
Kirin’ Tor Rings in 3.3
Item level 251 versions are currently planned for patch 3.3. I’m not sure what the cost to upgrade is but it will probably be similar to previous upgrades. We are only upgrading the existing ring types, not providing a new one, so that means no tank version. (Source)
Tank Shortage
The “shortage” is caused by a lot of people not wanting to tank or not spending the time to gear up and tank – and if they don’t want to gear up at all then they probably don’t want to tank anyway or maybe don’t want to spend the time learning it.
I still think the new Dungeon System will help with this through the faster turnover rate and random heroic feature, but overall we can’t force people to play something they don’t want to play so there will likely always be a shortage of tanks or healers to some degree. Continue Reading

Poyzon's Review - Multiboxing with the Razor Naga mouse? | read this item
Our very own Poyzon had this to say about the Razor Naga mouse in his blog:
Ok, so I picked this up last night and played with it a bit this morning. Here are some of my quick observations.
The mouse feels a tiny bit undersized for my hand, but I’m sure these are designed with the “one size fits all” mentality. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a mouse that comes in different sizes.
Wheel ‘click’ points are a little stiff (when rolling forward/back). I’d cut that resistance in half. Maybe after some usage this will get better.
The WoW addon doesn’t like Bartender4 (or other actionbar replacements). It gives an message when you enter the world. However, you really don’t need the addon if you’re using Bartender4.
The back/forward buttons are to the upper left of the left mouse button. This will take some getting used to for me Continue Reading

Lindline multiboxes Ramparts with 5x Shaman - Makes guide video | read this item
Lindline blows through Ramparts with his 5 multiboxed shamans and destroys the instance.
Trash Strategy – 3-packs are mostly random during the first wing. Priority on killing is Destroyers, Darkcasters, Hungerers, Archers, Worgs. Destroyers are a heavy damage melee mob with a small knockback which can eat through a party member if not dispatched quickly. Darkcaster do moderate damage with their real threat coming from their AoE damage, which isn’t much of a threat for solo-boxers but can cause an issue with a tightly packed multiboxer. Archers and Hungerers dont do much damage and can be worried about last. Worgs aren’t much of a threat at all and will be eaten up by AoE (such as shaman chain lightning). Continue Reading

Necrimus' video multiboxing guide on ToC normal | read this item
Necrimus has created a great video guide on how to multibox the entire ToC normal mode and farm those epics! He does so with his 5 characters, 1x Pally tank, 4x Shaman.
The first part, the joust, starts with lining all of your characters up against the wall. You will notice he positions his guys directly up against the wall, back facing everything, and pulls the joust parts 1 at a time. He stands still the entire time, spamming his 1, 2, and 4 key while being sure to trample any dismounted guys to ensure they do not re-mount.

Multiboxing is a term used to denote one user playing multiple accounts simultaneously. Typically you will have 1 player controlling multiple characters at the same time.
For example, in World of Warcraft, 1 person may be controlling 5 Shamans at the same time.
